The Spa & Wellness Suite at the recently opened 5-start hotel, Xenodocheio Milos is conveniently located in downtown Athens opposite Old Parliament, and a 5-minute walk from the metro station.
Located on the 3rd floor of the hotel, the Spa Suite offers a relaxing, soothing, and calming atmosphere and was developed to reflect the values of ‘evexia’, meaning well-being in Greek. It’s the perfect space to relax after a day of touristing in the city by enjoying a selection of massages, facials, and body treatments which all use the luxury British brand Elemis.
I’m booked for a 60-minute Superfood Pro-Radiance Facial (€130) promising to ‘supercharge’ my skin. When I arrive at the Spa I’m greeted by the hotel’s beauty therapist who invites me into the Suite. After filling out a questionnaire listing my skin concerns I’m asked to lie down on the massage table and I’m having a pillow placed under my knees for extra comfort.
During the next 60 minutes, my skin is double cleansed and my face is given a gentle massage which almost puts me to sleep. The next steps include an amino active mask to help restore lost moisture, hydrating serums, a toner, and facial oil containing Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Vitamin A, and E to jump-start tired and exhausted skin.
The treatment is finished with a refreshing face mist followed by a tinted moisturiser. Before I leave I catch a glimpse of my face in the mirror and the ‘supercharging’ facial has indeed added a real glow factor. My skin is soft, smooth, and feels incredibly clean which you would expect from a good facial, which this is!
The glow is still there the following day and I notice my skin tone looks more even and my usually dry areas feel more hydrated.
For those looking for a relaxing body treatment, one of the Spa’s signature treatments is the Aromatherapy Philoxenia Massage (€130). It’s a deeply relaxing treatment developed to draw toxins out of the body and create a sense of calmness. The massage therapist is using a blend of essential oils including bitter orange, cardamon, and ginger for the full-body massage and stiff muscles are being worked on to release any tension and stress in the body. The relaxing treatment is finished with an all-over-body Aloe Vera mist and is the perfect treatment to enjoy at the end of the day.
Additional treatments include neck and scalp massage, deep-tissue massage, and pregnancy massage. There’s also a steam room to relax your legs and feet in after a long day of touring the city.
