AYA Restaurant once stood at the intersection of gastronomy, music, and contemporary art in Seminyak, becoming a defining example of Bali’s evolving luxury dining scene.
It blended Peruvian fusion cuisine, immersive street-art interiors, and curated soundscapes into a single sensory experience that reflected the rise of experiential hospitality in Bali.
Positioned on AYA Street in the heart of Seminyak, the restaurant became known for its energetic atmosphere, where guests gathered at the Ceviche Bar for Peruvian-inspired small plates, cocktails, and social dining.
Within the broader context of Bali’s dining evolution, AYA is often referenced alongside other standout venues featured in our Bali travel guide, which explores how international concepts helped redefine the island’s culinary identity.
Created by Juanjo Suárez and Rafael Sanchez, AYA was part of a wider wave of globally influenced dining concepts that helped shape Seminyak’s reputation as a hub for design-led restaurants and nightlife.
Chef Marco Cuevas led the kitchen with a Peruvian–Asian (Nikkei and Chifa-inspired) culinary philosophy, combining traditional techniques with fresh Balinese produce sourced from local growers.
“We decided to merge everything we love most into AYA,” said co-founder Rafael Sanchez. “We wanted a fine dining experience delivered in a fun, accessible way within a modern urban setting.”
The interiors, designed by Helen Milne, transformed AYA into a hybrid restaurant-gallery space featuring works by internationally recognised street artists such as D*Face, Banksy, Space Invader, and Jan Kaleb.
AYA’s cocktail programme ranged from Pisco-based classics to contemporary creations designed to complement its bold flavour profile.

Although permanently closed, AYA remains an important reference point in Bali’s hospitality evolution and is frequently discussed within Lux Nomade’s broader coverage of the island’s culinary development.
