KU DE TA: the iconic Bali beachside establishment serves up a tasty new menu.
Much more than a beach club, KU DE TA with its impressive five kitchens is wowing its guests with a new tasty menu and impeccable service which will make you wanna come back for more.
The iconic Bali beachside establishment, the island’s first-ever beach club, located right on the beach in Seminyak and just around the corner from the island’s best shopping, nightlife and entertainment (Colony Hotel, Botanica and Motel Mexicola) has been a popular spot for the past 20 years. And with its premium location, warm and friendly service, comfortable daybeds, beautiful ocean view overlooking the inviting pool area coupled with an impressive cocktail list it ticks all the boxes. KU DE TA is everything you’d hope a tropical laid-back beach club would be. But wait there’s more (!), much for in fact. With five kitchens and both casual and fine-dining restaurants, people are flocking to KU DE TA for the food, and with its new executive kitchen team from South Africa, we can see why. The talented duo is serving up some of tastiest dishes in Bali right now.
So, who is behind the new menu?
Led by Executive Chef Jeremy Hunt and Head Chef Warren Carney the new international menu is inspired by and reflective of the island’s seasonal produce and a laid-back tropical lifestyle. “I’m big on innovation,” explains Jeremy. “I enjoy sourcing interesting ingredients and pairing them with trending flavours. I also like connecting with a wide range of palettes. Because KU DE TA has such an international clientele, I’ve ensured that there is something for everybody on our menus. It’s imperative that we select premium produce and deliver them at the highest level.”
Lobster dumplings
The verdict
Spread across two buildings and with several dining options, KU DE TA offers something for everyone and every occasion. For a perfect day at this iconic waterfront establishment, start off by sipping on a fruity cocktail whilst lounging on one of the daybeds working on a tan after a splash in the gorgeous infinity pool. Too much sun? Cool down with a refreshing frozen slice of watermelon (cleverly served as an ice pop) under the umbrella before making the way to the casual KU DE TA for lunch. The lunch restaurant is decorated in earthy tones and the beautiful comfortable wooden chairs offer front-row seats of the Indian Ocean. Make sure you arrive on an empty stomach, the number of amazing dishes to be shared on the menu are plenty and the wine-list (several from Australian & NZ) is very impressive.
As a starter, the popular lobster and pork steamed dumplings are divine and simply melts in your mouth. The cured snapper and the lightly grilled prawns are excellent. The line fish ceviche tacos with coconut and coriander are not just aesthetically beautiful they are also heavenly to bite into and creates an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Moving on to the main course, the medium-rare Wagyu rib-eye steak is cooked to perfection, served with possibly the best truffle and parmesan chips on Bali, or dare I say it, the planet(!). The pesto-draped tomato salad is fresh and sweet and together with the grilled corn on the cob, the perfect side dishes. The grande finale of the lunch is the devilishly creamy baked vanilla cheesecake served with a cinnamon gelato which is simply to die for. After having your tastebuds taken on a delicious rollercoaster make sure to kick back with KU DE TA’s special Martini espresso which is flavoured with pandan and coconut.
Finally, head upstairs to the fine dining restaurant Mejekawi’s outdoor terrace. This is a top spot to enjoy a glass of sparking whilst letting the fresh ocean breeze and the sound of the waves mesmerise. And not to mention the backdrop, Bali’s magnificent sunset, which makes this a pretty perfect way to end an amazing day in paradise.
