Ormer Mayfair Review 2026: The Hidden Michelin-Starred Gem Near Green Park

The menu at Ormer Mayfair continues to champion the very best seasonal British and Jersey produce, with a strong emphasis on premium seafood and beautifully sourced ingredients. Expect dishes built around fresh lobster, oysters, hand-dived scallops, Jersey Royals and shoreline foraged herbs — all elevated through Shaun Rankin’s refined yet approachable style of cooking.

To begin, my dinner guest and I opted for the hand-dived scallops served with barbecued leeks, sea herbs and a lemon parsley vinaigrette, alongside the restaurant’s now-signature lobster ravioli with crab, tomato bisque, shallot salad and coriander. The scallops were impeccably cooked — tender, buttery and delicately caramelised — while the sharp citrus notes from the vinaigrette added freshness and balance to the richness of the dish.

The lobster ravioli, meanwhile, fully lived up to its reputation as one of Ormer’s standout plates. Rich yet elegant, the delicate pasta parcels were generously filled and beautifully complemented by the velvety crab and tomato bisque. It’s the sort of dish that immediately explains why diners return here time and time again.

Wine pairings throughout the evening were equally well considered. The ravioli was served with a buttery Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast, while the scallops were paired with a bright Albariño whose peachy, citrus-driven notes worked perfectly with the seafood.

For the main course, we chose the Jersey lobster with avocado, garlic butter and dressed crab, alongside the salt-baked sea bass served with Parma ham, tomato salsa, black olive caramel, artichoke cappelletti and saffron. The lobster arrived elegantly presented with a fresh crab salad on the side that turned out to be one of the highlights of the entire meal — light, delicate and bursting with freshness.

The sea bass was presented tableside still encased in its salt pastry shell before being carefully plated by the waiter, adding a subtle sense of theatre without feeling overdone. Perfectly cooked and wonderfully flaky, the fish paired beautifully with the saffron-infused vegetables and the salty depth of the olive caramel. Both mains were accompanied by a light English Pinot Noir from Bolney Estate, proving once again that British wines continue to hold their own on fine-dining wine lists.

Dessert at Ormer feels less like an optional final course and more like an event in itself. We settled on the apple crumble with white chocolate, caramel and vanilla ice cream, alongside the cherry soufflé served with Black Forest gâteau and cherry sorbet.

The apple crumble arrived hidden inside an elegant white chocolate shell shaped like an apple before hot caramel sauce was theatrically poured over the top, slowly melting the exterior. Thankfully, the flavour matched the presentation: warm, comforting and deeply indulgent without becoming overly sweet.

The cherry soufflé dessert was equally impressive, offering what felt like three desserts in one. The airy soufflé sat beside a rich Black Forest gâteau and a vibrant cherry sorbet that cut through the richness beautifully. Each component worked perfectly together, making it ideal for anyone incapable of choosing just one dessert — which, frankly, is most of us.

Service throughout the evening was polished yet genuinely warm. Staff were exceptionally knowledgeable, with the restaurant manager guiding us through the menu while the sommelier carefully introduced each wine pairing with enthusiasm and expertise. Fine dining can sometimes feel overly rehearsed, but Ormer manages to keep things personal and relaxed.

Adding to the experience were a series of thoughtful surprises served between courses, including a lobster samosa, tiramisu mousse and delicate chocolate pralines. These small touches elevated the evening further and reinforced the sense that every detail here has been carefully considered.

Manetta’s Bar

Just beside the restaurant sits Manetta’s Bar, one of Mayfair’s most underrated cocktail spots and the perfect place to begin — or end — the evening. Rich velvet seating, low lighting and glamorous 1930s-inspired interiors create an atmosphere that feels somewhere between a private members’ club and an elegant speakeasy.

The cocktails are every bit as polished as the surroundings. The Negroni is flawlessly balanced, while the Old Fashioned arrives exactly as it should: bold, strong and unapologetically spirit-forward. Like Ormer itself, Manetta’s Bar feels intimate, sophisticated and quietly seductive — the sort of place that makes you want to cancel your next appointment and order another round instead.
