Suitcase Series: Maryam Khan, the founder of The Modest Brand DASKA

Maryam Khan is the founder of the clothing brand DASKA. The fashion label was created after Maryam noticed that there was a gap in the womenswear market for high-quality and stylish modest clothing in both the UK fashion industry and worldwide.

Modest clothing has long been a second thought in the fashion market which has led to women adding more layers to their clothing to make them modest as they are unable to find suitable designs online that do not compromise in style. The brand’s mission is to empower women and reassure them that they can feel beautiful without having to show skin whether it is a religious decision or not and aim to remove the stigmas attached to modest clothing in the mainstream market.

Lux Nomade caught up with Maryam to find out what her traven inspiration and top packing tips are in our Suitcase Series…

What’s been your most memorable trip and why?

The most memorable trip has been dalyan, turkey where I climbed a mountain for the first time to witness the most beautiful views. Then going paragliding above the sea in Fethiye. A trip filled with culture, stunning nature, good food and amazing people.

What’s your favourite ever hotel?

My favourite hotel has been the Four Seasons in Marrakech! Absolutely beautiful architecture, the hotel is art.

Where or what is your escape?

Just walks in nature, away from people and surrounded by just greenery, fresh air and animals.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow it would be… What’s your idea of a luxury wellness holiday?

Kenya for safari. My idea of luxury wellness holiday would be Iceland, where you can visit the blue lagoon, amazing natural minerals, and spa treatments.

My top bucket-list destination is…

There are so many destinations I would love to go but Namibia would be in my top three for sure. The reason is not only the animals but also it is one of the places in the world you can see the milky way in the night sky.

If you could sit next to anyone – dead or alive – on a long-haul flight, who would it be?

There are so many people I would like to sit with, if I had to choose one then it would be Maya Angelou.

What is your jet-lag recovery tip?

For me it is to stick to the day schedule even if you get tired

What is your suitcase stalwart?

The suitcase I use is Rimowa.

What is your number one packing tip?

Always stick to what you really need to take first, if you have space then that’s an advantage. Also try to keep everything nice and neat, it can help with space and also an organised suitcase is easy to navigate through.

I never travel without…

My skincare is something I cannot travel without.

In my beauty / toiletry bag I always bring…

I always bring my weleda skin food moisturiser, mascara and lip balm by la roche posay.

Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
