SUITCASE SERIES: Zoe Liang founder of jewellery brand LYANG & CO

This week we caught up with Zoe Liang, the Australian-based founder of  LYANG & CO, a jewellery brand offering a custom-designed collections, to find out what she never travels without, their packing tips, and what their most memorable trip has been so far…

There’s a unique alchemy that happens when a marketer’s strategic mind meets a designer’s creative heart. For Zoe Liang, that fusion didn’t just inspire a career change – it sparked a movement. With a Master’s degree in Business (majoring in Marketing) and years of experience in Sydney’s competitive digital marketing and tech sectors, Zoe had the expertise to build a brand, but it was motherhood and a move to Adelaide that gave her the why.

Driven by a desire to create jewellery that seamlessly fits into the lives of busy women, offering elegance without compromise, Zoe launched LYANG & CO. in late 2022. Every piece is designed with intention – affordable, high-quality, hypoallergenic, and perfect for daily wear. But beyond the aesthetics, the brand stands for something deeper – empowering women to find confidence and joy in the everyday.

Zoe’s journey is a powerful testament to modern entrepreneurship. As a mother of two, she openly navigates the challenges of balancing business and family, using her experiences to fuel her vision and connect authentically with her community. This customer-centric approach has been central to her success – she’s collaborated with over 100 creators and consistently evolves her collections based on real feedback, building a brand that women don’t just wear, but believe in.

Towards the end of the year, LYANG & CO. is set to reach an exciting new milestone with the launch of its first fully custom-designed collection, a bold step forward in Zoe’s mission to blend emotional storytelling with timeless design.

In this week’s Suitcase Series, we take a sneak peek into Zoe’s travel psyche…

What’s been your most memorable trip and why?

Without hesitation, Korea! My then-boyfriend, now-husband and I embarked on this incredible two-week adventure that honestly changed how I view travel. We split our time between the vibrant energy of Seoul for a week, then completely switched gears with the serene beauty of Jeju Island. What made it so special was how Korea surprised us at every turn – the street food culture was incredible (I’m still dreaming about those late-night Korean BBQ sessions!), the people were genuinely warm and welcoming, and the blend of ultra-modern city life with deeply-rooted traditions was fascinating. It was also where my husband and I realised we were the perfect travel partners – and the rest is history!

What’s your favourite ever hotel?

Actually, it wasn’t a hotel at all! We found this incredible Airbnb in New Zealand that was literally nestled right next to a mountain. I remember waking up and opening the curtains to this breathtaking view that looked like a postcard. There’s something magical about staying somewhere that makes you feel completely connected to the landscape.

Where or what is your escape?

I love escaping into cute and unique coffee shops. There’s something so comforting about slipping into a café with a warm cup in hand, whether it’s a minimalist space with perfect lattes, or a quirky little spot filled with character.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow it would be…

Korea, again! I’d love to revisit the places we cherished, while also discovering new corners of the country now that life has changed and we’re seeing the world through a different lens.

What’s your idea of a luxury wellness holiday?

For me, it’s simple: a retreat by the ocean. No agenda, no rushing. Just the sound of waves, time to breathe, and the space to meditate and reconnect. True luxury is in slowing down.

My top bucket-list destination is…

Europe  – specifically France, Italy, and Spain. I imagine wandering through the romantic streets of Paris, enjoying long meals in Italy, and soaking up the energy of Spain. Each has its own unique history, culture, and charm that I can’t wait to experience.

Rosa Heart Gold Huggie Hoop Earrings 8MM

Looking to add a little love to your jewelry rotation? The Rosa Heart Huggies are a charming pick. These delicate earrings strike the perfect balance between dainty and durable—crafted from 925 sterling silver and designed to gently hug your lobes. They’re lightweight enough for all-day wear, whether you’re heading to brunch, a romantic dinner, or just grabbing coffee solo. With their timeless heart design, they also make a sweet, meaningful gift for someone special (yourself included).

RRP: AUD$49.00

Lux Nomade

If you could sit next to anyone – dead or alive – on a long-haul flight, who would it be?

Honestly, my husband. He’s my favourite travel companion. We’ve built so many special memories on trips together, and it’s exciting to discover new places while sharing our dreams.

What is your jet-lag recovery tip?

I keep it simple and nurturing: start with a bowl of comforting soupy food, take a long refreshing shower, sleep until my body feels ready to wake up, and finish it off with a good cup of freshly brewed coffee. Works every time.

What is your suitcase stalwart?

A good book. I always pack one, even if nowadays with two kids I rarely get through more than a few chapters! But just knowing it’s there makes me feel like I’ve packed a little piece of calm.

What is your number one packing tip?

Travel light – just the essentials. I’ve learned that I feel freer when I don’t overpack. It leaves room for spontaneity and little treasures you might pick up along the way.

I never travel without…

My jewellery. It’s part of who I am, and even the simplest pair of hoops or a dainty necklace can make me feel put together while travelling.

In my beauty / toiletry bag I always bring…

My skincare essentials and my go-to jewellery pieces  – currently, it’s my Kaylee hoops. They’re effortless, comfortable, and add that little touch of sparkle no matter what outfit I’m wearing. For more information visit https://lyang.co

Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
