SUITCASE SERIES: Millie Gillespie, Founder & Creative Director of Glow Culture Australia

This week we caught up with Millie Gillespie, the founder and creative director of Glow Culture Australia, a minimalist beauty brand redefining everyday rituals through design, to find out what she never travels without, their packing tips, and what their most memorable trip has been so far…

Millie Gillespie is the founder and creative director of Glow Culture Australia, a minimalist beauty brand redefining everyday rituals through design. Trained as an architect and fine artist, Millie brings a distinctive spatial and material sensitivity to beauty, translating her background in form, texture, and composition into thoughtful, functional tools. Born in London and now based in Perth, Millie created Glow Culture Australia to merge design and daily life, crafting products that look beautiful, perform seamlessly, and celebrate natural radiance. Her first collection – The Glow Brush and Glow Brush Cleaner, embodies her “less, but better” philosophy: sustainable, multi-use tools that make glowing skin effortless.

In this week’s Suitcase Series, we take a sneak peek into Millie’s travel psyche…

What’s been your most memorable trip and why?

Granada with my family last summer. The flamenco, the Alhambra, the light, the atmosphere. As an architect, being surrounded by that level of geometry and detail felt like walking inside a living drawing.

What’s your favourite ever hotel?

I actually love staying in Airbnbs. Original artwork on the walls, linen sheets, spaces that feel curated rather than decorated. My favourite was in Sant’Ambrogio, Milan, living like a local and moving at a more independent, authentic rhythm.

Granada, Spain

Where or what is your escape?

Anywhere with mountains and lakes.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow it would be…

New York. I would start the morning with a matcha in SoHo, wander through galleries in Chelsea, then spend the afternoon getting lost in the Met. There is something about the pace, the creativity, the ambition, the energy, that makes everything feel possible.

What’s your idea of a luxury wellness holiday?

Luxury, for me, is space, calm, and that stillness you only get by the ocean. Simple little rituals: early morning light, a yoga or Pilates session, saltwater swims, long coastal walks, good food, sunshine, and nowhere to be.

My top bucket-list destination is…

Mexico. The colours, the warmth, the food, the architecture. It is a place that feels full body and alive. I imagine leaving with glowing skin, a full sketchbook and a head full of ideas.

The Glow Brush

The Glow Brush blends fake tan, bronzer, and body oil in seconds using ultra-soft vegan bristles that deliver a streak-free, airbrushed finish. Its dense, cloud-soft fibers sweep product evenly across the skin, leaving no patches, no mess—just smooth, seamless radiance from head to toe. Designed with a durable 100% aluminum handle, it offers balance, control, and a luxe feel in every application. This multitasking brush works effortlessly with creams, sprays, powders, serums, and oils, making it the ultimate tool for flawless glow creation. Elevate your routine with a brush that perfects every formula and enhances every complexion with radiant results.

RRP: AUD$59.00

If you could sit next to anyone – dead or alive – on a long-haul flight, who would it be?

Sofia Coppola. I love how she creates worlds that feel soft, intentional, and atmospheric. I imagine a conversation with her would feel like slipping into a calmer frequency.

What is your jet-lag recovery tip?

Hydration, movement, sunlight. I try and walk everywhere when I land, eat clean and reset my routine straight away. And a Glow Brush moment, a little bronzed glow always makes you feel more alive!

What is your suitcase stalwart?

An oversized white shirt. It is the ultimate multitasker, beach cover up, dinner outfit, plane layer. I love pieces and beauty tools that do more with less.

To the left: Como, Italy. To the Right: Milan, Italy

What is your number one packing tip?

Keep to one colour palette. Simple choices create the calmest holidays.

I never travel without…

A sketchbook, a good book, electrolytes and one tool that replaces half my makeup bag. I designed The Glow Brush to be that one thing you can always count on for fake tan, body bronzer, highlight buPer, glow giver. It is my secret to looking alive after any flight.

In my beauty / toiletry bag I always bring…

SPF and The Glow Brush. It is my non-negotiable for an ePortless, all-over glow, even when I am running on very little sleep.

You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for the check-in experience—you stay because 1901 wrote better architecture than most cities can build today. Ten years after Graham Greene walked these halls, and they haven't missed a beat. The Opera House steps, the wartime tunnels underfoot, the Angelina salon where cocktails taste like history—they're all part of a legacy that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
