Bridget Carmady Founder of Australian skincare brand Clemence Organics

This week we caught up with Bridget Carmady, the woman behind Clemence Organics, to find out what she never travels without, her packing tips, and what her most memorable trip has been so far…

Bridget Carmady is a University-educated Naturopath (BNat, BHsc Hons) who began her career in complementary medicine research at the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (Western Sydney University). In 2011 Bridget branched out into private practice in the Blue Mountains where she began to attract clients who had skin concerns. She developed protocols for addressing a wide variety of skin concerns. However, she felt her clients were faced with a lack of skincare products that were gentle and made from organic ingredients but still able to deliver powerful results (as well as being super luxurious). So based on traditional medicine and the latest research she decided to develop her own. After years of perfecting her formulations, Clémence Organics was born.

In this week’s Suitcase Series, equipped with the Clemence Organics Brightening Eye + Skin Serum $149.98 we take a sneak peek into Bridget’s travel psyche…

What’s been your most memorable trip and why?

In 2015 we took a family holiday to France and Spain. We spent 4 weeks exploring the best of the south of France, and another 2 weeks in northern Spain. The weather was magic, the food incredible, and the sights just divine. I would go back in a heartbeat.

What’s your favourite ever hotel?

This year we went to Castaway Island in Fiji. The resort has the most beautiful bures right on the water, the ocean is alive with every colour fish you can imagine, and the people are the friendliest on earth. We had the most wonderful family holiday and I would go back every year if I could.

Where or what is your escape?

Anywhere in Europe. I just love the languages, the history, and the food. It’s so rewarding to fully immerse yourself in European culture.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow it would be…

Japan. I love everything about Japan – the food, the sights, the culture. I’ve been three times and I keep going back. I’m hoping to go skiing there in January.

What’s your idea of a luxury wellness holiday?

Somewhere warm with an abundance of water, physical activities, and healthy food. I’m picturing the Maldives…

My top bucket-list destination is…

Iceland. It is unlike any place in the world. I’ve wanted to go there since I was 18. I haven’t made it yet but fully intend to someday.

If you could sit next to anyone – dead or alive – on a long-haul flight, who would it be?

Jacinta Ardern. I find her so inspiring and love watching her talk. I think she would be excellent company on a long-haul flight.

What is your jet-lag recovery tip?

Get out into the fresh air and walk around as much as you can. I find that combination of exercise, natural daylight, and stimulation the perfect antidote to jetlag.

What is your suitcase stalwart?

I have a gorgeous red Lipault Paris suitcase which I’ve taken around the world. Amazing quality and super stylish.

What is your number one packing tip?

Roll your clothing. I don’t iron and so try to make sure my clothes arrive in as good a state as when I left. Rolling keeps them crease-free and also makes it easier to identify items when unpacking.

I never travel without…

My Clémence Organics skincare. Travel is so hugely disruptive to skin and so I always ensure my skin is super hydrated during travel.

In my beauty/toiletry bag I always bring…

Clémence Organics Ultimate SOS Balm. This little tin of balm can resolve a million and one skin issues not only for myself but for my family and so it’s always the first thing I pack into my beauty bag.

Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
