Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá: The Return of a Legend

Palma’s most iconic hotel is stepping back into the spotlight—glamorous as ever, with a fresh new look and a nod to its golden past.

After a €12 million transformation, the Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá officially reopened its doors on March 31st, reclaiming its place as a beacon of style, sophistication, and cultural buzz right in the heart of Palma de Mallorca. With views to die for and a history rich in glitz and glamour, this beloved landmark is writing a brand-new chapter—one that’s all about blending timeless charm with modern-day luxury.

A Star Is Reborn

Originally opened in the 1920s as Villa Victoria, the hotel was dreamed up as an elegant extension of the legendary Gran Hotel de Palma. It didn’t take long before it became the place to be—hosting glamorous soirées, drawing in the local elite, and becoming a favorite hideaway for jet-setting artists and thinkers who helped define Palma’s cultural golden age from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Now, with backing from Victoria Hotels & Resorts, Meliá, Bankinter Investment, and GMA, the property has undergone a meticulous renovation that honors its legacy while adding all the contemporary luxuries modern travelers crave.

Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá

Classic Elegance

The revamp was led by celebrated architectural firm ASAH, under the direction of Álvaro Sans and Adriana Sans. The result? A beautiful blend of classic elegance and fresh Mediterranean style across 171 redesigned rooms, all with stunning views of Palma’s postcard-worthy port and cathedral. Whether you’re here for a romantic escape, a cultural deep dive, or just a really great cocktail on a sun-drenched terrace—this hotel delivers.

The Victoria Grand Café: Palma’s New Place to Be

Among the most exciting new additions is the Victoria Grand Café, a vibrant all-day dining destination that pays homage to the hotel’s glamorous roots. Think long, lazy breakfasts, breezy lunches, and elegant evening bites made with top-notch local ingredients. The reimagined terrace is already becoming a local hotspot—bringing back that old-school café culture in a big way. Expect good food, better views, and plenty of people-watching.

Not Just a Stay, But an Experience

Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá is more than just a pretty place to rest your head—it’s a gateway to the best of Palma. From curated cultural experiences like private gallery tours and gourmet food tastings to custom shopping routes, the hotel connects guests with the city in a truly authentic way. It’s even teamed up with local institutions like the Paco de Lucía Festival, cementing its role as a cultural hub for both visitors and locals.

AI Meets the Golden Era

In a unique twist, the hotel is also using artificial intelligence to bring its storied past to life. By blending original photographs and archival materials, Gran Meliá has recreated scenes from the 50s and 70s—allowing guests to step back in time and experience the elegance and glamour of that unforgettable era. It’s the brand’s first use of AI for storytelling—and definitely not the last.

Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
