We tried 10 Mascaras for volume and here’s our verdict
At the Lux Nomade office we’ve been busy trying ten mascaras to share our honest reviews with you. We know that not all mascaras are created for the same purpose, some of us want thick lashes and others might be looking for lengthening formulas or simply just a little tweak. However, all the mascaras we tested have one thing in common – great volume. So when a lash extension isn’t an option and your false lashes keep falling out, there’s the staple in your makeup bag which will never let you down – the mascara. Here’s our verdict…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Brag Mascara
A voluminous mascara that instantly creates the look of dramatic, full-bodied lashes with intense, jet-black colour. The water-resistant formula glides on effortlessly for comfortable wear that lasts all day. It is designed to prevent clumping and doesn’t dry out lashes, fade, or smear.
Our verdict:
It’s easy to layer in build and nicely coats and separates lashes with minimal effort. It gives the lashes a lovely curl, even without a lash curler, and that curl holds up really well, even with three coats. It isn’t clumpy at all, but still delivers lots of drama.

Arbonne Speak Volumes Mascara
A vitamin-infused mascara that lengthens, defines, separates, curls and volumises. The smudge-resistant, buildable mascara formula with Green Tea is great for even sensitive eyes and lets you go for a natural or dramatic look. The tapered brush reaches every last lash and the mascara easily washes off at the end of the day without rubbing or tugging.
Our verdict:
This black mascara is a great formula, not too wet and not too dry. The tapered brush also means it’s easy to get the corner lashes and the bottom lashes. And the end of the day, it’s easy to remove.

Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara
A vitamin-enriched mascara featuring a long-wearing and water-resistant formula. It easily coats lashes to separate extend and intensify their appearance and contains emollient-packed olive and rice bran esters to promote long healthy looking lashes and leaves no clumps flakes or smudges.
Our verdict:
This mascara is lifting and curling the lashes and provides volume. It’s long wearing, flake free and clump free and the brush is small and curved for easy application.

Ere Perez Avocado Waterproof Mascara
Using mamey and avocado oils, this mascara works to stimulate growth while regenerating and strengthening lashes. It’s waterproof and smudge-proof with a full black coverage and amazing 24-hour wear. Made with high quality natural ingredients it’s friendly to sensitive eyes.
Our verdict:
It sticks to the eyelashes and it holds the curl well and doesn’t flake or smudge. It has a drier consistency which allows to build the product without getting large clumps.

LASHFOOD Ultra Rich Volumizing Mascara
The ultra rich volumizing mascara features Lashfood’s patented Phyto-Medic complex, rice bran, and extended release technology that works overtime even after mascara is removed to repair, strengthen, and protect lashes. A trifecta created to guarantee longer, fuller, and healthier lashes.
Our verdict:
It provides both volume and length and makes the lashes look thicker. Its clump-free and doesn’t smudge at the end of the day.

L’Oreal Paris Paradise
Our verdict:
This is one of our favourite drugstore mascaras from L’Oréal Paris and one of the best mascaras for volume. The 200+ bristle brush captures every single lash to create a full, feathery look with intense volume, while the soft-glide formula ensures the lashes remain soft, not crunchy. It creates thick, soft and longer lashes.

IL MAKIAGE Icon
Icon weightlessly lifts, separates, curls and thickens every lash for serious drama. The quick-drying formula settles without hardening and offers unprecedented buildability that never clumps. Expect long-lasting, smudge-free results.
Our verdict:
It is extremely lengthening and very buildable without clumping. If you add multiple layers it gives a real wow-factor and a lash extension look.

Revlon Big Bad Lash
No clumping. No smudging. No flaking. No fading. Just incredibly full, fanned out lashes that last all day and night long. Use the curvy Big Side of the Revlon Double-Sided Brush to pile on the volume. Place brush the at the roots of your lashes and wiggle it at the base, then draw it out to and pull through the tips. Repeat for more volume.
Our verdict:
This mascara is great for extending the lashes in a natural way without clumps. And, yes it does actually seem to be tinting the lashes and noticeable in less than a week.

MAC Extended Play Giga Black Lash Mascara
This long-wearing mascara lasts up to 16 hours, yet the washable formula removes easily with warm water thanks to an innovative thermal-sensitive technology. The unique slim-type brush reaches and grips even the tiniest hairs with an advanced lifting formula in a saturated blackest black colour.
Our verdict:
It lifts, curls, separates and provides volume and length. The long and slender wand makes it easy to reach every single lash.

Megan Potter Mineral Lash Duo
Mineral Lash Perfector primes the lashes, adding length and volume without clumping. The hybrid formula containing natural and one synthetic ingredient (nylon) to give maximum performance. Nat Tucker Collection mascara contains at least 98.5% natural ingredients. Apply one coat of Lash Perfector to your eye lashes, then follow with two coats of Mineral Mascara.
Our verdict:
We love this duo, the Lash Perfector adds fibres and the second (and third) coat of mascara gives great volume and thickness and one of the best mascaras of volume. It stays on all day and doesn’t flake or smudge and is great for a dramatic look.
