Tropicola Beach Club Bali: entertaining poolside chill for foodies.
The group behind Bali’s iconic Motel Mexicola opened the equally fun and colourful Tropicola Beach Club last year and it has been a raving success ever since. Located on one of the most well-known beachfront in Bali, the funky beach club enjoys sweeping panoramic views of the Indian Ocean just meters up the beach from W Bali-Seminyak, Potato Head & Alila Seminyak.
With three bars sprawling over multiple levels, surrounding two pools and a wood fire open kitchen the vibe is 80s old school, think nostalgic Miami meets Palm Springs. The sporty staff uniforms are red and white with quirky socks, cute skirts, and shorts which are matching the colourful interior.
Before securing a spot on one of the many sun loungers and make the most of the pool area, ensure you try the delicious food on the menu developped by Chef Steve Skelly who is also responsible for the award-winning food at Mexicola, Da Maria and Luigi’s Hot Pizza. The dishes are based around wood-fired grills, fresh seafood, grilled meats, and simply handled vegetables.
The tomato salad with pickled onions. almonds and olive oil together with the wood-fired bread served with a large bowl of guacamole are excellent to share. The wood oven half chicken with leek butter and gravy is another tasty dish excellent for sharing which goes well with one of the crisp green salads and a chilled Australian pinot noir.
After enjoying lunch in the restaurant making a way up to the pool area is the perfect way to continue the afternoon. The venue is cleverly divided into several sections to suit a large audience. The main pool area suits the party crowd whereas the smaller ‘kids’ pool’ is perfect for families. For sun-seekers who like to chill, the ocean-facing double sun loungers offer a premium spot (and an extremely comfortable neck pillow) and with a cocktail list in hand, there’s hard not to embrace the holiday-feel, this is really what Tropicola Beach Club is all about. Try the ‘Tulum Bliss’ (tequila, grapefruit, chili, and lime) or the refreshing ‘Copacabana’ which is a mix of gin, blackberry, raspberry and basil. There is also a great selection of non-alcoholic mocktails, milk, and mylkshakes as well as juices and soft drinks to enjoy together with the funky DJ beats.
Head to Tropicola Beach Club if you are looking for a party, great tunes and people-watching or simply if you are after good food and delicious cocktails in a fun atmosphere – or all of it combined. Whatever you do, just make sure not to miss out on the spectacular sunset. Grab an espresso martini just in time for the sun to set and enjoy the breathtaking view from your sun lounge, which will, most likely, be a memory you’ll cherish for a long time.
