Destination Spotlight: Sentosa

Singapore’s Luxe Island Playground—Where Every Generation Finds Its Groove

Let’s get one thing straight: Sentosa isn’t your average island getaway. Nestled just 15 minutes from Singapore’s bustling cityscape, this verdant sanctuary offers a dazzling paradox—seclusion with city-edge sophistication. It’s where luxury travelers, family clans, and romantic duos alike can seamlessly blend the cosmopolitan buzz with island serenity. Think of Sentosa as Singapore’s chic retreat, a place that effortlessly morphs to suit your mood—and your entire family tree.

Why is Sentosa so irresistibly attractive to all generations? Because it caters to every taste, every pace, and every whim—whether you’re a thrill-seeking teen, a sun-loving grandparent, or a couple craving an intimate escape. It’s a curated canvas where bespoke luxury meets vibrant experiences, creating a playground for multi-gen families and discerning travelers alike.

Alvin Tu, Head Butler at Raffles Sentosa Singapore, spills the island’s secrets:

Alvin’s no ordinary butler; he’s your personal guide to luxury, a raconteur of local lore, and the concierge who anticipates your desires before you utter a word. His insider picks showcase why Sentosa is the ultimate all-in-one luxury retreat.

1. World-Class Golf with a View to Die For

For the golf lover in your clan (or the wannabe), Sentosa Golf Club’s twin championship courses are a dream. The Serapong—home to the Singapore Open and ranked among the world’s top 100—is as challenging as it is breathtaking, flaunting panoramic city skyline views that’ll make every swing feel like a victory lap. Meanwhile, The Tanjong tempts you with some of Asia’s largest bunkers and stunning vistas of the Singapore Strait. Fore!

2. Beaches Tailored to Your Tribe

Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong—three distinct beach personalities, each perfect for different moods and generations. Kids? Siloso is your high-energy hub, buzzing with activities. Couples and tranquility seekers? Tanjong’s white sands and calm waters offer a blissful hideaway, complete with sunset cocktails at the Tanjong Beach Club. Palawan? A family-friendly oasis where little ones can splash and play.

3. Roll in Style: The Exclusive Rolls-Royce Island Tour

Not your average sightseeing jaunt—this is a Rolls-Royce chauffeur-driven journey through Sentosa’s rich history and vibrant transformation. Hosted by Raffles’ Concierge & Wellbeing Manager, it’s the perfect way to introduce elders and youngsters alike to the island’s military past (hello, Fort Siloso), lush landscapes, and avant-garde attractions like Sensoryscape—all narrated with charm and insider flair.

4. Private Yacht Charters: The Ultimate Family or Couple’s Escape

Whether you’re celebrating a milestone with the whole clan or stealing away for a romantic sunset cruise, a private yacht charter around Sentosa turns sightseeing into a floating five-star experience. Imagine the kids marveling at playful dolphins while grandparents toast with champagne, all framed by Singapore’s dazzling skyline.

5. Sensoryscape: An Immersive Day-to-Night Wonderland

Where else can you wander through six enchanting gardens that invite you to touch, taste, hear, and see the island’s essence? Sensoryscape is pure magic for curious minds of all ages. Visit pre-sunset to explore fragrant herbs and rustling leaves, then stay for ImagiNite—a night-time spectacle where digital light and augmented reality conjure fantastical creatures that will delight kids and mesmerize adults.

6. Wings of Time Fireworks: A Multigenerational Showstopper

A nightly spectacular that’s part laser show, part fireworks extravaganza, and all heart. Watching Wings of Time on Siloso Beach, with its narrative of time and triumph set against a soundtrack that lifts your spirits, is a shared experience that binds families, sparks romance, and delights solo travelers alike.

Extras for the Fam & The Fun-Loving

  • Birdwatching Adventures: Every Saturday, expert naturalists guide you through Sentosa’s rainforests and coastlines, revealing exotic birds that’ll thrill nature buffs and casual observers—from white-collared kingfishers to migratory wonders.

  • KidZania Singapore: Inside Sentosa, this hyper-real mini-city invites kids (4-17) to role-play careers, earning “kidZos” and learning life skills in the most fun and immersive way. Perfect for keeping little explorers entertained while grown-ups relax nearby.

Stay: Raffles Sentosa Singapore

Forget cookie-cutter hotel rooms. Here, each guest luxuriates in a private villa with its own pool, cocooned in 100,000 sqm of tropical greenery. Gourmet dining by award-winning chefs, holistic spa indulgence, and round-the-clock Raffles butler service—because nothing says luxury like having your every whim anticipated before you even think it.

Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
