Mama San Bali Kitchen Bar Lounge is living up the hype as being one of the top restaurants in Seminyak.

Seminyak isn’t short of great restaurants and Mama San is one of them. Step into colonial Britain in Shanghai during the 1920s and enjoy delicious South East Asian food, amazing Australian wines, and delicious cocktails to the beat of funky music in an ever so cool setting. 

Mama San is one of the most talked-about restaurants around Seminyak, for all the good reasons. The interior downstairs feels like a bit of New York, with the exposed brick walls, however, once inside the decor with marble top mah-jong tables and oversized tan leather chesterfields tells a story of Asia.

Mama San is popular, the restaurant is quickly filling up and making a reservation is essential. If you are asked to wait for your table, the upstairs bar is a great spot to start the evening with one of the signature cocktails. The atmosphere is upbeat with bartenders mixup refreshing creation and funky music playing in the background.

The food is everything its hyped up to be and there’s also an extesive wine list with several Australian labels. As a starter the prawn dumpling with peanuts green shallot & Sichuan dressing is wonderful and perfect to share.

The slow cooked beef cheek rendang with Sumatran spice and coconut milk served with jasmine rice is a favourite and frequently orderd. The beef is very tender and the fvlaours are spot on. The Siamese prawn curry with pineapple kaffir lime coconut milk and Thai basil is a wonderful seafood curry and has a nice kick to it. The portions are generous, served on beautiful plates and perfect to share. The tropical pavlova with coconut and passionfruit is a great dish to finish a tasty and filling dinner.

Mama San is perfect for larger groups since the table configurations are flexible with long tables. Despite being really busy (all tables are full at all times) the dark and moody light  creates a cosy and intimate feel.
