La Loggia, an Italian with a breathtaking view, local produce and friendly staff
La Loggia, the Italian restaurant at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benhavis Marbella Resort, is the perfect spot for a long sun-drenched luncheon on Spain’s famous Costa Del Sol.
Imagine a long Spanish lunch in the Andalusian sun where the food is made from locally sourced produce, the staff is friendly, and the panoramic view from the terrace where you sit overlooks a Championship golf course and the Mediterranean Sea. That’s La Loggia, the Italian restaurant at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace for you!
Situated on the ground floor of the dusty pink palace-like resort, La Loggia, popular among golfers, spills out to a large terrace overlooking three green golf courses, and a large lake. The atmosphere is relaxing with lounge music playing in the background. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Depending on the weather (and availability) there are two seating options, indoors or outdoors with the latter being the most popular during the warmer months.
On the lunch menu, guests can find dishes with authentic Italian flavours, including a wide range of pizzas and pasta. There are also typical dishes from the Malaga region, one of the richest cities in Spain for its famous gastronomy.
For a true Spanish lunch experience, there are several dishes to ‘compartir’ which means ‘to share’ such as the roasted octopus tentacle (cooked to perfection) served with boiled potatoes and chives, and the famous ‘Boquerones’ and anchovies with wood-roasted peppers.
The spicy grain-fed chicken baked with aromatic herbs is delicious, and don’t miss the popular signature dish – ‘Retinta presa al Romero’ beef with spicy homemade potatoes.
The desserts are as colourful as the plates. The traditional Spanish pudding ‘flan’ has been given a fruity injection of passion fruit and coconut and the result is almost better than the original. And the ‘Torrija’ (French toast) served with local mango ice cream is the perfect end to a delicious lunch.
In addition to the menu, there’s an option for guests to pick out their favourite vegetables which are on display in the restaurant, to be brought to the Chef who will then prepare a unique dish based on local flavours using the specific ingredients. It’s an interactive and fun way to have your favourite food prepared and adds an element of surprise when it comes to the final dish.
For those staying in Marbella or Estepona beachside, looking for an in-land lunch experience La Loggia is definitely worth a visit.
