Why Tropical North Queensland Is The Perfect Escape
Paradise calling? We think so; now it’s the perfect time to pack your swimmers, and let’s explore Tropical North Queensland, one of the most beautiful places Australia has to offer!
Are you ready to unwind and get lost under the shade of palm trees and stunning sunsets? Well, you should get a ticket for Tropical North Queensland as you are reading this; take it as the call to action you were waiting for, and you can thank us later.
We headed over the idyllic Palm Cove to explore and discover what are some of the stunning local destinations Australia has to offer, and I’m sure you will think twice before getting on your first post-pandemic overseas adventure. There is so much to cover that; honestly, I don’t know where to start. Think crystalline waters, wildlife and mouthwatering culinary experiences, and you get a glimpse of what you would see next.
Are you thinking of doing a family scape? QLD is the answer, a romance getaway QLD is the answer; a solo wellness experience, QLD is the answer, you get what I’m saying, right? I had the pleasure to indulge myself on a solo wellness adventure and couldn’t be happier and relaxed after my days up north. These are all the experiences I tried, and you should undoubtedly consider on your next vacation because, hey, summer isn’t over yet!
1. River Drift Snorkelling Tour
For our first adventure up north, we headed over to the beautiful Port Douglas, which is around 40 mins drive from Palm Cove. Back Country Bliss Adventures offered the tour; this was a half-day tour, but they also provide full-day tours for those interested, and you could choose for either fun and relaxing Mossman Gorge Adventure Day or a non for the faint-hearted hike to the Devils Thumb.
Get in the groove of nature while sightseeing turtles, blue butterflies, stunning birds and maybe some platypus if you’re lucky. Expect to swim, snorkel, float and walk over the rainforest, basically the perfect mix for a refreshing day outdoors.
2. The Reef House Spa
What would it be a vacation without a massage or just some time to immerse yourself in a decadent spa? As a beauty enthusiast, I very much enjoy both a face treatment and a massage; this time around, I wanted to give some TLC to my sore muscles and went for a wellness massage; as the name implies, this full-body massage will make you feel like you are on a cloud for the rest of the day! Seventy-five minutes of a heavenly sensation increase blood circulation, easing the tension in your body and soothing emotional and physical stress.
However, they have an extensive treatment menu to cover everyone’s needs, and Isabelle, the owner, has heaps of knowledge and experience regarding anti-ageing procedures.

3. Ngana Julaymba Dungay – Aboriginal Tour
An exciting and extremely interesting day at the Daintree with Walkabout Cultural Adventures is the go-to if you are looking for something different to spend a day outdoors. Soak yourself into the rawness of Kuku-Yalanji by its owner Juan Walker; Juan won’t let any of your curious questions without an answer; he’s the real deal; what better to understand a culture from a local like him?
You won’t only admire magnificent scenery but also learn all about foods and medicines from nature itself, and just if you’re lucky and get in the way of mud crabs, they would be on the menu along with a refreshing variety of fruits and nuts. After admiring the green life on the Daintree Forest, it’s time for a refreshing finale at the Mossman Gorge.

4. Double Island Sunrise Tour
Getting up early as the sun rises will be no chore with an incentive like admiring Double Island, a mesmerising landscape to keep in your records forever. Also, are you a Matrix fan? Once you paddle for around 30 minutes, you can geek out about the fact that you saw where Keanu Reeves worked out while on the island.
P.S: Don’t forget your sunnies and a hat for maximum skin protection.
Palm Cove Watersports organised this experience, and they do quite a few tours if you are not keen on the sunrise one, such as Turtle Kayak, Half-day kayak and snorkel, as well as Ocean adventures.
As you can see, there are plenty of activities to book in if you decide to spend some days in this magnificent region. Not to mention the stunning beaches surrounding the area where you can spend the whole day admiring but be careful with the crocs and stingers if you venture yourself into the sea, oh and don’t worry about the wet season. FYI, it usually rains at the end of the day or during the night, which is perfect so the environment can cool down a little and the green areas become greener a true natural spectacle.
