5 ingredients to enhance the benefits of your morning coffee

Coffee for some is an indispensable part of their everyday lives and it’s not just for the caffeine buzz. It’s about the experience from the roasting process and experimenting with different roast combinations to the actual taste and smell of the final product.

So whilst we enjoy our cuppa, and try to do our best to stay healthy, why not try to enhance your beloved coffee with more ingredients that can benefit your health?

Here are 5 ingredients (some of them might surprise you) that are worth looking into according to Clinical Nutritionist Bec Miller, Founder of Health With Bec for Beforeyouspeak Coffee, an Australian high-performance, instant coffee brand.

Single Origin Columbian Coffee

Many instant coffees are heavily treated and packed full of preservatives, therefore when looking to purchase coffee it’s important to check the ingredients and see what additives are in there. I like to use Single Origin Columbian Coffee because it is rich in antioxidants, provides natural energy and improved metabolism. Additionally, when instant coffee companies are using Cold Press Technology which is different to Cold Brew, the coffee yields a greater number of compounds in the liquid concentrate, meaning there is an explosion of flavour whilst having unparalleled smoothness.

1. MCT Oil

MCT oil is an ingredient that many nutritionists and trainers are obsessed with and for good reason, as it has a lot of benefits. MCT oil has been shown to increase the release of peptide YY and leptin, two hormones that help you feel fuller for longer. It has also been showing to significantly reduce body weight and waist circumference so it may be good in terms of helping to prevent obesity Additionally MCT oil has been shown to help improve mental clarity and focus.

2. Turmeric

Turmeric is a well-researched spice whose active ingredient, Curcumin, has been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. In fact, some natural inflammation, arthritis and pain medications use it as a key ingredient. Curcumin is generally poorly absorbed in the bloodstream, which is why it is often combined with black pepper, or a fat, such as MCT oil, to help enhance the absorption of the ingredient. In fact, black pepper is shown to increase absorption by 2000%. Turmeric has also been shown to improve gut health, immunity, and blood glucose regulation. For those looking to experience the full benefits of curcumin, high-quality Turmeric Supplements can offer enhanced absorption and reliable potency.

3. Siberian Ginseng

According to Chinese medical records, Siberian ginseng has been used medicinally for over 2000 years. In fact, this herb has a positive reputation with Russian and American cosmonauts. It has been classified as an adaptogen, which helps the body adapt to stress, improve balance and overall immune function in a nontoxic way. The Soviets also studied it for over 30 years as it was shown to help ensure the endurance and performance of athletes and strengthen the immune systems of highly stressed workers. Siberian Ginseng is also a popular supplement especially in the states for its nootropic properties of helping to Provide long-lasting energy, mental alertness and a sense of wellbeing.

4. Green Coffee Bean

Green coffee beans have been shown to regulate blood pressure, lower blood sugar and improves metabolism. They board an abundant supply of chlorogenic acids which have many anti-inflammatory effects. When coffee beans are roasted they lose a lot of the chlorogenic acid, but as green coffee beans are raw this is less of an issue.

5. Black pepper extract

As mentioned before, black pepper helps increase the absorption of other active ingredients. Therefore it is a great ingredient to add to your coffee.

You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for the check-in experience—you stay because 1901 wrote better architecture than most cities can build today. Ten years after Graham Greene walked these halls, and they haven't missed a beat. The Opera House steps, the wartime tunnels underfoot, the Angelina salon where cocktails taste like history—they're all part of a legacy that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s review from his recent stay at @sofitellegendmetropolehanoi for @luxnomade on why this Hanoi icon still sets the standard.
Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
Finca Cortesín has quietly been collecting awards Finca Cortesín has quietly been collecting awards while the rest of the Costa del Sol was still figuring out its aesthetic. From the golf course that rivals the best in Europe to interiors that feel less like a hotel lobby and more like a private estate, this is Andalusia's most intelligent design statement. It proves you can be world-class without being loud. Read our full take on why this Spanish icon remains undefeated. @fincacortesin
