The Sukhothai Bangkok

The Sukhothai Bangkok is a luxurious and tranquil garden paradise in central Bangkok.

The Sukhothai Bangkok’s Location

The Sukhothai Bangkok is located a 40-minutes drive from Bangkok’s International Airport. Centrally located in the city’s business district and embassy quarter the hotel is close to the Lumphini Park and Chalo Phraya River as well as the buzzing restaurant scene of  Sukhumvit Road. The Sukhothai is not the only five-star luxury hotel in the area, however, with six acres of land in the middle of downtown Bangkok, it’s a truly unique property offering something very special.

The Hotel Design

Driving into The Sukhothai is like arriving in an urban oasis where a luxurious and tranquil garden paradise awaits. The sheer amount of land surrounding the hotel boasts flowering lotus ponds, tropical green gardens, and a resort-sized swimming pool, providing an instant escape from Bangkok’s busy city scene (which is after all one of the busiest cities in Southeast Asia).

Behind the design of the 210 rooms (where space is key) is Australian Kerry Hill Architects. All rooms and communal areas all follow a similar design approach where natural materials such as marbles, silks, and teakwood have been used throughout the hotel.

The Club Balcony Room with a swimming pool view

All rooms at The Sukhothai Bangkok are incredibly spacious and The Club Balcony Room which is located in the Sukhothai Club Wing is no exception. The room has a king-size bed with 100% duck down pillows and duvets covered in luxurious 400-thread count cotton sheets. The bathroom, which also has a separate walk-in wardrobe, boasts a deep-soaking tub, two sinks as well as an impressive rain shower room. The bath amenities are from Bottega Veneta and the luxurious bathrobes are extra soft. Apart from a large sofa, desk, Harman Kardon audio system and a 55″ LED TV the real highlight of the room is the large private balcony overlooking the swimming pool, complete with sun lounger and dining table. Additional nice touches include the Nespresso machine, The Sukhothai’s own blend of tea as well as the easy-to-use light, house-keeping and air conditioner system.

The Sukhothai Club Wing offers privacy and excellent service

The club room guests have access to the Club Lounge on level six in the Sukhothai Club Wing. This is a quiet and smart area with comfortable sofas and seating areas with a beautiful view of the swimming pool. The Club is cleverly fitted with international power plugs and USB ports throughout making it a convenient area for work and meetings. There’s a daily complimentary breakfast served from 6.30 am – 10.30 am for hotel guests who prefer an a la cart menu including eggs, sandwiches, and pancakes as well as Asian dishes. There’s also a buffet available. Complimentary afternoon tea is served between 2 pm – 4 pm including an array of teas, sandwiches and chocolate pralines (the hotel is famous for its chocolate). In the evening guests can enjoy cocktails between 5.30 am – 7.30 pm together with canapes created by the Chefs from the hotel’s main restaurants which include tasty Japanese, Thai and Italian snacks and smaller dishes.

The service is friendly and professional with the members of staff going way and beyond to ensure the stay is comfortable. There is an additional complimentary laundry service available for Club guests including laundry or pressing of two garments or one suit per stay.

The Breakfast at Colonnade

Served daily in the Colonnade restaurant, the breakfast certainly lives up to its reputation as one of Bangkok’s plushest hotel buffet breakfasts (the Sunday brunch is very popular). With omelettes, pancakes, Belgium waffles, and pastries to fresh fruit and an impressive selection of noodle soups, dumplings, and sushi no one will leave hungry. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with high ceilings creating a grand yet comfortable atmosphere.

Award-winning restaurant Celadon

Dinner at the award-winning Thai Restaurant Celadon

There are several dining options a The Sukhothai including the award-winning upscale Thai restaurant Celadon voted  “Best Restaurant in Bangkok” by Travel and Leisure magazine. Celebrated among local and international visitors, Celadon offers a plethora of delicious Thai dishes. The grilled Hokkaido scallops with sea blite leaves and the raw wagyu beef salad are both fantastic. The Pad Thai is served with half a grilled river prawn with the noodles covered in a beautiful egg-net and the Australian beef cheeks are served in banana leaves. The dessert menu is based on coconut and the deep-fried banana wrapped with young green rice served with coconut ice cream is beautifully presented and the perfect way to finish an amazing dinner. Celadon also serves great cocktails including cocktails such as Negroni and Old Fashioned and the red house wine from Chile is superb.

La Scala is another excellent restaurant where Italian Chef David Tamburini serves up progressive Italian cuisine. Originally from Florence, he blends traditional recipes with contemporary flavours.

The Facilities at The Sukhothai Bangkok

The impressive swimming pool is perhaps one of the key features of The Sukhothai. Located next to the Club Wing, the 25-meter pool surrounded by sun loungers and gazebos creates a real resort vibe. There’s also a pool restaurant offering refreshments.

For guests wanting to keep their work-ups up, the state-of-the-art fitness studio offers machines, stretching areas, and weights. Personal trainers are available for personalised training programmes and assistance.

Spa Botanica

Tucked away in a separate building surrounded by greenery, this state-of-the-art spa offers everything from a simple rejuvenation facial to an all-day wellness programme. The signature massages are excellent to combat jetlag. The body scrubs, facials and specific spa treatments for men are also popular treatments. There is also a beauty salon in the main building offering manicure and pedicure. The pedicure is 90-minute treatment including a foot mask, massage, and nail varnish leaving your feet baby soft.

Who is this hotel for?

The Sukhothai Bangkok is great for families, couples of all ages, solo travellers and business travellers. Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
