The Location
25 km from Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, located on a quiet residential street in the city’s prestigious Retiro neighbourhood, close to Plaza de Colón, The Pavilions Madrid is tucked away from the busy tourist area, however only just a few steps away from Spain’s most important museums and art galleries, electrifying nightlight, and vibrant shopping scene.
The premium and central location, 150 metres from Colon tube station, offers both tranquillity and walking distance to a plethora of local eateries, popular bars, trendy cafes, designer shops, and main city attractions.
Many hotel guests choose The Pavilions based on the location. Óscar Bellido Esteban, General Manager at The Pavilions Madrid explains “The fact that our hotel is located in a quiet and safe area away from the main tourist areas, is important to our guests”.
The style and character
The Hong Kong–based Pavilions group together with Studio Marincola Architects have done an excellent job transforming a historic building into a modern yet elegant boutique hotel. Mixing modern art, and chic interior design with traditional luxury Spanish elements, the result is a tasteful, grown-up yet playful hotel.
The Rooms
The 28 rooms and suites are spacious and individually designed full of local character with the fabric on the headboard showcasing famous Madrid landmarks and the city’s world-famous sweets from ‘La Pajarita’. Some rooms are bright and colourful and others are more sober with navy blue walls, dark grey velvet sofas and black wardrobes which blend perfectly in with the traditional Spanish luxury style.
The Terrace Suite is located on the top floor and as the name suggests it features an impressive private terrace. Furnished with sofas and chairs it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching the sunrise before exploring the city.
The spacious king-size bed is comfortable with premium bed linens and quality pillows. The two nightstands have USB plugs and easy access to the light switches for the room.
The bathroom is surprisingly spacious with a separate impressive hydromassage shower, heated towel rack and shower gel and lotion from Anne Semonin.
The espresso capsule machine is a nice touch and so is the selection of books available for a relaxing in-room afternoon read, and the blackout curtains.
The breakfast
The daily breakfast is served in the hotel’s restaurant Nuro, which is located in a lush courtyard decorated with flowers and plants creating a green ceiling and a relaxing space with an exotic feel.
There’s a set breakfast menu (17.50 euros) which includes unlimited tea and coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice or a detox juice, lemon and carrot cake, yoghurt with seasonal fruits served in Champagne coupes followed by a toast ready to order from a selection of bread, spreads, homemade butter, cheese, eggs and cold cuts. The tomato bread with avocado is delicious and the ‘Jamon Iberico’ and Tomate Rallado’ are great options for guests wanting to enjoy a classic Spanish breakfast.
The seating area is fitted with several soft and comfortable corner sofas and plush chairs and the tables are beautifully decorated with seasonal flowers.
