Mode Kitchen & Bar at Four Seasons Sydney: a modern bistro with a fine dining twist.
Mode Kitchen & Bar strikes the perfect balance between casual bistro and fine dining, all with a touch of glamour thanks to the Luchetti Krelle interiors.
Walking into the elegant dining area past the impressive long bar, there is a feeling of old-meets-new. The beautiful brown leather sofas and chairs and the cosy fireplace creates a sense timeless glamour coupled with modern touches throughout the restaurant such as the contemporary lights and colourful bar stools. The seating area is warm and inviting. Round tables are placed next to rounded sofas which create an intimate feel.
Head Chef Francesco Mannelli’s menu
Head Chef Francesco Mannelli, originally from Italy, has over 20 years experience from working in high-end restaurants and his menu is traditional with modern touches which have been added with great finesse. The menu is updated according to season. We enjoyed the Spring menu which was light and fresh. As a starter to share, the yellowfin tuna tartare with avocado, lime, red radish and pepitas is fantastic and so is the Hiramasa kingfish served with sashimi, red onion, sweet and sour sauce and macadamia. For the main course, the grilled Mayura Wagyu tri-tip MB9+ served medium rare with sprouts and mushroom sauce is heavenly. There are plenty of tasty side orders to add including the green beans with roasted almonds and lemon and the crispy Tasmanian white potatoes. The wine list is impressive with over 200 labels on offer and many by the glass including Australian and international wines.
For dessert, the Italian watermelon and strawberry granita is fresh and sweet. For a real showstopper, the frozen pavlova with coconut, mango and passion fruit is served on dry ice for a dramatic and smokey presentation.
Who is Mode Restaurant & Bar for?
With its elegant decor, impeccable service, Mode Restaurant & Bar is great for a fancy lunch, or a dinner celebrating a special occasion. Those who enjoy fine-dining minus the stuffiness will enjoy the bistro-feel where dishes are hearty yet elegant and the wine list equally impressive as the cocktail menu. The prices are on the higher end, however, given the quality of the dishes, it is well justified.
