Introducing ME Málaga: A New Icon of Cosmopolitan Luxury on the Costa del Sol
Málaga’s glow-up continues—and it’s getting a bold new statement piece. ME Málaga, the latest opening from ME by Meliá, is poised to shake up the city’s hotel scene with a cocktail of art, design, and cosmopolitan swagger. Set just steps from Plaza de la Merced and the Alcazaba, this new address captures the essence of southern Spain—sunlight, soul, and a touch of avant-garde flair.
Designed by ASAH Studio, the hotel reimagines Andalusian spirit through natural textures and contemporary art, with interiors that feel less “hotel lobby” and more “modern gallery.” (Picasso and Miró pieces in the actual lobby certainly help.) There’s an air of effortless cool—exactly what you’d expect from a brand that’s as comfortable hosting fashion week parties as it is morning espresso seekers.

Up top, the rooftop terrace is destined to become Málaga’s new high-altitude hangout. Picture a heated infinity pool shimmering above the skyline, a solarium that might just rival the Costa del Sol itself, and live music sessions that roll from golden hour into the night.
The culinary spotlight shines on Cañitas Maite, the brainchild of Javier Sanz and Juan Sahuquillo, both 27 and already boasting three Michelin stars between them. (Yes, they’re on Forbes’ “30 Under 30.”) Expect a playful balance of tradition and innovation: think Iberian ham croquettes with cult status and grilled scarlet prawn with sabayón de manteca de orza. Downstairs, Eñe keeps things casual yet clever—oxtail donuts and reimagined calamari sandwiches, the kind of small bites that make you forget about cutlery altogether.
Art and fashion seep through every layer of ME Málaga. Designer Rafa García’s clean lines meet Marina Anaya’s vibrant mural in the lobby, while a collaboration with Lacoste ensures even the hotel uniforms are worthy of a front-row moment.

But beyond the design and dining, ME Málaga is about something more: redefining what luxury means in a city that’s fast becoming the creative heart of southern Spain. As Gabriel Escarrer, CEO of Meliá Hotels International, puts it: “With the opening of ME Málaga, we continue to strengthen our commitment to southern Spain and to destinations with a cultural and creative identity as inspiring as Málaga. The city today represents the new pulse of the Mediterranean, energy, art, and modernity, values that perfectly align with the spirit of ME by Meliá.”
A hotel for travellers, locals, and dreamers alike—ME Málaga isn’t just opening its doors; it’s opening a new chapter in the city’s story.
