El Llorenç Parc de la Mar Mallorca | Luxury Boutique Hotel in Palma Old Town 2026

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar: A Design-Led Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Palma

Located in the historic quarter of La Calatrava, just steps from Palma’s iconic cathedral and the shimmering waterfront of Parc de la Mar, El Llorenç Parc de la Mar stands as one of Mallorca’s most refined expressions of contemporary city luxury.

Unlike traditional coastal resorts, this boutique hotel captures a different side of the island — one defined by culture, architecture, gastronomy, and urban sophistication.

As part of Mallorca’s broader evolution into a leading European luxury destination, Palma has emerged as a cultural counterpoint to the island’s coastal and countryside retreats. For a wider look at this transformation, explore our Luxury Mallorca Guide.

A Heritage Setting in La Calatrava

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is set within La Calatrava, one of Palma’s oldest and most atmospheric neighbourhoods.

Characterised by:

  • narrow cobblestone streets
  • medieval architecture
  • remnants of Arab baths
  • proximity to La Seu Cathedral
  • quiet, residential elegance

The hotel sits at the intersection of history and modernity, offering immediate access to Palma’s cultural landmarks while maintaining a sense of privacy and retreat.

From here, guests can easily explore nearby highlights such as the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, Plaça de Cort, and the waterfront promenade.

Design: Where Moorish Heritage Meets Contemporary Palma

The design of El Llorenç Parc de la Mar reflects Palma’s layered identity.

Architect Pedro Rabassa preserved the architectural integrity of the surrounding historic fabric while introducing a refined, contemporary structure defined by light, proportion and spatial openness.

Inside, Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland created a concept that blends:

  • Moorish and Arabic geometric influences
  • Old Spanish architectural references
  • modern Scandinavian minimalism
  • curated contemporary art collections

The result is a space that feels deeply connected to Mallorca’s cultural history while firmly rooted in modern luxury design sensibilities.

This design-led approach mirrors a wider trend seen across Mallorca’s luxury hospitality scene, including properties such as Son Xotano and Finca Serena Mallorca, where architecture and atmosphere play a defining role in guest experience.

Rooms & Suites: Intimate Luxury in the Old Town

The hotel features a collection of 33 rooms and suites, each designed with a focus on comfort, texture, and understated elegance.

Room categories range from compact patio rooms to expansive suites with views over Palma’s rooftops or the sea.

Key features include:

  • king-size beds with custom furnishings
  • handcrafted design pieces from leading European brands
  • spa-inspired bathrooms with chromotherapy showers
  • select suites with private balconies and city or sea views

The overall atmosphere is one of refined intimacy rather than scale — a deliberate contrast to larger resort properties found elsewhere on the island.

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar

DINS Santi Taura: A Modern Expression of Balearic Cuisine

One of El Llorenç’s defining features is its acclaimed restaurant DINS Santi Taura, led by one of Mallorca’s most respected chefs.

The concept celebrates traditional Balearic cuisine through a contemporary fine dining lens, with a focus on:

  • locally sourced seafood from Palma Bay
  • heritage black pork and inland produce
  • seasonal tasting menus rooted in Mallorcan tradition
  • reinterpretations of classic island recipes

The dining experience is intentionally immersive, with an open kitchen and intimate seating arrangement that places guests at the centre of the culinary process.

For more exceptional dining experiences across the island, explore our Luxury Mallorca Guide, which also features destinations such as Belmond La Residencia in Deià and Cap Rocat’s La Fortaleza restaurant.

Rooftop Living: One of Palma’s Most Iconic Views

The rooftop at El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is one of the most recognisable in Palma.

Spread across multiple levels, it includes:

  • an infinity pool overlooking the Old Town and bay
  • a rooftop cocktail bar
  • shaded lounging areas and Balinese beds
  • sunset dining experiences

From this vantage point, Palma unfolds in layers — from La Calatrava’s rooftops to the cathedral silhouette and the Mediterranean horizon.

It is one of the clearest expressions of Palma’s transformation into a year-round luxury city destination.

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar

Wellness: Arab Baths & Slow City Living

Wellness at El Llorenç is centred around the hotel’s atmospheric spa, inspired by traditional Arab baths.

Facilities include:

  • thermal pools
  • steam rooms and sauna areas
  • treatment rooms using premium skincare brands
  • a modern fitness space

This approach reflects a wider Mallorca trend where wellness is integrated into both city and countryside stays — also seen at properties such as Finca Serena Mallorca, where nature and restoration define the guest experience.

Palma: Mallorca’s Cultural Luxury Capital

Staying at El Llorenç places guests at the heart of Palma — a city that has quietly become one of Europe’s most compelling luxury urban destinations.

Beyond the hotel, Palma offers:

  • contemporary art galleries
  • historic architecture and cathedral views
  • Michelin-level dining
  • boutique shopping streets
  • waterfront promenades

It also acts as a gateway to the wider island experience — from inland fincas to coastal retreats.

Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
