Alpine Cool: Casa Cook’s First Mountain Retreat Opens in the Dolomites
There’s a new kid on the mountain, and she’s not wearing your typical Tyrolean knit. Casa Cook Madonna, the latest opening from the design-savvy Casa Cook brand, has quietly arrived in the postcard-worthy village of Madonna di Campiglio — and it’s already turning heads like a well-cut après-ski jacket.
Opening its doors this August, this 50-room, adults-only hideaway marks Casa Cook’s first foray into alpine territory — and their debut on Italian soil. It’s perched in one of the Dolomites’ most photogenic corners, about 150km from Verona and 170km from Milan Bergamo, with glacier views, forest trails, and ski lifts practically on the doorstep. But don’t expect cowbells and carved wood clichés — this is not your nonna’s mountain chalet.
Instead, Casa Cook Madonna blends the brand’s signature style — think minimalist lines, natural textures, and plenty of mood lighting — with a strong dose of Dolomite soul. The design, a collab between Casa Collective and Remo Masala (the brand’s original style whisperer), leans heavily into local craftsmanship, organic fabrics, and a generous helping of stone and timber. There’s also a certain hush to the place — the kind that invites you to take a slow breath, cancel your notifications, and maybe book that yoga class after all.

The wellness offerings are as well-curated as the interiors: a full gym, a serene spa, sauna, and even an “innovative” boot room — whatever that might mean, I assume it’s perfect for stylishly shedding ski gear before sinking into a glass of something red and Italian.
And speaking of indulgence, foodies will want to take note: the hotel’s restaurant is helmed by none other than Jacob Jan Boerma, the Dutch culinary maestro behind a trio of Michelin stars. While details on the menu are still trickling in, expect refined alpine fare with a twist — and possibly a panna cotta worth writing home about.
Of course, it’s not all about winter. In summer, Madonna di Campiglio trades snow for sun-dappled meadows, glacial lakes, and a smorgasbord of outdoor adventures: hiking, biking, wine tasting, and rock climbing, all served with sweeping mountain views and a generous pour of fresh alpine air.
Whether you’re here for the slopes, the spa, or simply to bask in design-led mountain serenity, Casa Cook Madonna might just be the grown-up, gorgeously restrained mountain escape we didn’t know we needed. One thing’s for sure: it’s got us looking at the Dolomites with fresh eyes — and maybe a slightly heavier suitcase.
Rates start at €200 in summer and €280 in winter, including breakfast. More at www.casacook.com.
