Blique by Nobis is where Nordic design blends a rustic industrial feel, efficient service with warm hospitality.

The Location

The newly opened Blique by Nobis, the third hotel opened by the Nobis Hospitality Group is young, fun and funky. Whilst not sharing the central location the sister property Nobis is benefitting from, Blique by Nobis is only a 30-minute walk from the city centre of Stockholm. Tucked away on a quiet side street, with the entrance located in a courtyard, in trendy Hagastaden, the hotel isn’t far from great restaurants, bars, and boutique shops and galleries. For guests keen to venture out, there are two train stations only a couple of minutes away which will take you directly down to the central areas of the city. The airport bus is also conveniently stopping only a short stroll from the hotel.

Design and Style

The newly opened Blique by Nobis is located in a building originally constructed in 1930–31 for the Philips Corporation of Sweden to be used for storage. The man behind planning and constructing Nobis Blique is the world-famous architect Sigurd Lewerentz who has transformed the property including the hotel, two restaurants, and the lobby which offers flexible spaces for meeting and events as well as the breathtaking rooftop bar. A rustic industrial feel is carried through the reception area and lobby which is located on the first floor. The colour palette is soft and earthy with leather and steel being used across the concrete covered spaces. The spacious working stations are well equipped with power plugs and the large rustic tables large enough to host a dozen of laptop-working guests. The reception area is sleek and stylish and the Origo Bar located on the ground floor offers a great source of coffee and lighter meals.

The Rooms

The hotel rooms are every minimalist’s dream and are beautifully designed. Apart from a wonderful and comfortable boxspring king-size bed, two bedside table, a TV and an armchair the room boast a spacious modern bathroom. The amenities are from the Swedish perfume brand BYREDO which gives the room a luxury feel and the rain shower is amazing. There’s no coffee and tea making facilities in the room nor bathrobes, slippers or water bottles (however, the tap water in Stockholm is of high quality and drinkable).

Boketto

Located on the ground floor benefitting from natural light from the courtyard and its outdoor seating area, Boketto is stylish, rustic and warm. The dining space offers an intimate dining experience for both lunch and dinner guests and the staff is attentive, helpful and friendly. The menu isn’t overly complicated, instead, the chef is celebrating local produce in his delicious dishes. One of the most popular starters is the bleak roe pizza topped with sour cream and the Korean styled beef tartar is excellent. For main course, the miso cod with soy baked pak choi is a fantastic option. Famous for their sweet desserts, the baked chocolate cream with chocolate sorbet is truly irresistible. The newly opened Boketto is currently mainly serving hotel guests, however, once the local crowd starts to discover this hidden gem, it’s probably just a matter of time before the restaurant becomes equally as popular with walk-ins.

The Breakfast

Scandinavians tend to do breakfast really well and Nobis Blique is no exception. The breakfast buffet is served daily from 6am to 10am in the Boketto restaurant. With fresh bread (including Swedish crackers), warm and cold dishes, fruit salads, yogurts and a great selection of juices, te and coffees guests won’t leave hungry. For the health-conscious travellers there are ginger shots available and for those craving a naughty treat, the Swedish cinnamon rolls are divine.

Who is Blique by Nobis For?

The growing demand for a female-friendly hotel for women travelling for business has resulted in a new sector on its own. Although Nobis Blique caters two both leisure and business travellers it certainly falls seamlessly into this category. With the excellent working stations in the lobby, the warm and friendly service across the bars and restaurants, solo business travellers will feel right at home. The well-connected location also makes Nobis Blique a great hotel for leisure travellers including couples, families and solo travellers.

You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for the check-in experience—you stay because 1901 wrote better architecture than most cities can build today. Ten years after Graham Greene walked these halls, and they haven't missed a beat. The Opera House steps, the wartime tunnels underfoot, the Angelina salon where cocktails taste like history—they're all part of a legacy that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s review from his recent stay at @sofitellegendmetropolehanoi for @luxnomade on why this Hanoi icon still sets the standard.
Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
