Yallungah Boutique Hotel: Where Heritage Elegance Meets Contemporary Luxury in Orange, NSW

Nestled in the heart of Orange, New South Wales, Yallungah Boutique Hotel is a refined new addition to Australia’s family luxury travel scene—an elegant retreat where timeless design meets purposeful living. Reimagined by Travellers Group in late 2024, this historic Byng Street landmark has been thoughtfully restored to honour its past while offering a sophisticated and deeply personal guest experience for modern travellers.

A Storied Past, Beautifully Reimagined

Named after the original 1896 homestead by architect William Lamrock, Yallungah seamlessly blends heritage charm with contemporary craftsmanship. The property’s classic façade gives way to a warm, elegant interior, where history is not just preserved but celebrated.

From the original fireplaces and leadlight windows to the hand-selected artworks and custom furnishings, every detail reflects a commitment to quality, comfort, and quiet luxury.

Stays Designed for Connection and Comfort

Yallungah offers 24 beautifully appointed rooms and suites across two wings. In the main building, guests will find a selection of Deluxe King, Queen, and Twin Rooms, along with Executive Suites featuring walk-through robes, double ensuites, soaking tubs, and spacious lounge areas ideal for family stays.

The restored homestead wing is home to one-of-a-kind Heritage Suites, including the Yallungah Suite—a stately space complete with marble fireplace, lounge, and private balcony overlooking manicured gardens.

Elegant Communal Spaces with a Local Heart

Guests are invited to unwind in the Guest Lounge, a tranquil space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand fireplace, and rotating exhibitions of contemporary art. The Yallungah Dining Room, with its heritage details and modern finishes, serves as a vibrant gathering space overlooking the hotel’s lush gardens.

For those travelling with purpose, the Lamrock Boardroom offers a refined setting for executive meetings or intimate family celebrations.

Rooted in Community, Committed to Experience

Under the stewardship of local husband-and-wife team Chris and Donna Cochrane, Yallungah fosters strong relationships with regional producers, artisans, and makers. Guests can expect seasonal touches throughout their stay—from locally sourced amenities to curated experiences that celebrate the best of Orange’s wine, art, and culinary scenes.

A Place to Pause and Belong

“At Yallungah, we believe luxury is about feeling at ease,” says Donna Cochrane. “Whether you’re here for a romantic escape or a multi-generational getaway, we want every guest to feel at home, surrounded by beauty, care, and intention.”

With its rich heritage, contemporary elegance, and a heartfelt connection to place, Yallungah Boutique Hotel is a destination that invites families to slow down, reconnect, and savour the finer things in life.

You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for the check-in experience—you stay because 1901 wrote better architecture than most cities can build today. Ten years after Graham Greene walked these halls, and they haven't missed a beat. The Opera House steps, the wartime tunnels underfoot, the Angelina salon where cocktails taste like history—they're all part of a legacy that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s review from his recent stay at @sofitellegendmetropolehanoi for @luxnomade on why this Hanoi icon still sets the standard.
Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
