Sanctuary, A Beautiful Wellness Retreat In The Charming Palm Cove
Belen Arce checks into a wellness retreat for a solo experience in tropical Far North Queensland to experience what the region has to offer. The beautiful wellness retreat Sanctuary located in the tranquil seaside town of Palm Cove offers relaxation and rejuvenation all in a tropical and exotic setting.
It’s always exciting to get on a plane and escape from Sydney for a few days; after months and months without the possibility of travelling, every chance I’ll have, I’ll take it without second-guessing it. After a long but calm flight from Sydney to Cairns, I arrived at stunning Palm Cove, where the tranquil accommodation Sanctuary Palm Cove will be my home for four days, enough at the moment of checking-in. Still, I recommend longer stays if your goal is to completely switch off and leave the tropics wholly renewed and refreshed.
Once I stepped my foot into the property, I was blown away by the magnificence of nature there; it indeed feels like a true sanctuary, that was the first thought that came to mind. Think green areas, lagoons, poolside and whitey apartments with beachy vibes.
Sanctuary is a family-owned property that makes the whole experience even cosier and personalised; the property has different buildings, all of them with a luxurious quality for all your vacation needs. I stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment beyond my expectations, spacious and packed with natural light coming from every corner.
The Apartment
This apartment fits up to 6 people where you’ll be treated to a king-size master bedroom with a walk-through robe and en-suite. This is all to ensure you get a luxurious and comfortable sleep. As you wake to the sounds of nature, your private balcony allows you to have that first sip of coffee overlooking our beautiful lagoon.
You may choose from either a king-size bed or two king single beds for the second and third bedrooms. These rooms also access a full bathroom with a separate toilet and full laundry. There is also a separate balcony adjoining the third bedroom and bathroom.
The apartment’s main features include private balconies, a tropical dining area with bi-fold doors, a full kitchen with quality European appliances, laundry facilities, and wireless internet access. So you have everything sorted out, and your only worries are to relax and enjoy the experience.
Aside from stunning apartments, the property offers quite a few facilities worth checking out while you are staying there; from BBQ spaces to Baby Amenities, every one of your needs are taken into consideration in this tranquil retreat:
They have a great undercover BBQ space located in the pool area. With a 4-burner gas BBQ, a bar fridge and seating area to enjoy a BBQ lunch or dinner under the magnificence of the stars, perfect for a romantic date or some well-deserved solo time.
An Outdoor Sanctuary For Nature Lovers
Alongside the BBQ area is a 25m pool (heated during winter) for everyone to fancy. The pool deck overlooks the lagoon and is lined with age-old melaleucas. You can enjoy the tropical sunshine on the sun-lounges, swim some laps and let the kids play in the shaded wading pool, or enjoy a refreshing spa. Pro tip: One of the days I stayed there, I sneaked my way for a late-night dip which was the perfect way to freshen up after a humid day, as the pool closes at 10 pm you have plenty of time after dinner to admire both the green life around you as well the star-studded sky.
Nature plays a big part here. Apartments and facilities are surrounded by naturally occurring melaleucas, tropical plant species, and wetlands. If you pay close attention, you might delight your eyes with an abundance of wildlife, birdlife and aquatic life that frequent the area.
Suppose you are thinking of a family stay at Sanctuary. In that case, you’d be grateful to know that every apartment is provided with great packages that include high-quality baby equipment hire, making it the ideal environment for holidaying with your little one.
Another great facility the property offers for their guests is Car Rental if you want to rent a car. At the same time, you stay in Palm Cove, which is highly recommended if you travel with kids or plan to move around Palm Cove and explore its most secluded beaches and surroundings, such as Port Douglas, for example, a car will be much welcomed. They only have one car available at the moment, so be mindful and try to book in advance to secure it.
The rental rate includes comprehensive insurance with a $500 excess that applies if the vehicle has been damaged in any way. The rate also includes unlimited kilometres within a 370km radius of Sanctuary Palm Cove.
So, as far as I discovered in my short but sweet stay, Sanctuary is one of the best options available for a more flexible still luxurious accommodation if you are heading up north for your next vacation, be it by yourself, with your partner, your whole family or even with some friends for a much-needed quality time.
