The Amala Seminyak

The Amala Seminyak is the place to refresh, relax and rejuvenate in a green oasis.

Seminyak can be a busy place but at The Amala Seminyak, you are immediately transported to tranquility in the tucked-away green oasis where the noise from the hectic traffic seems miles away. Checking into The Amala you quickly realise that this place has everything you need. With the large private villas, wellness centre, spa, restaurant, and even a library, there’s no need to leave the hotel until it’s time to check out. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Conveniently located only 12kms or 30-minutes from the Ngurah Rai International Airport, the hotel is, however, not far from Seminyak’s attractions for guests looking to explore the area.

The Amala
The spacious Spa Villa has its own plunge pool and outdoor bathtub

The Spa Villa

The Spa Villa is a luxurious retreat offering total privacy. Perfect for couples who are looking for a romantic getaway this spacious villa is a stylish hideout with all the trimmings. The villa boasts not only a private plunge pool and an outdoor bathtub but also a private steam room and shower. The separate bedroom has a comfortable four-poster bed (which is beautifully decorated with flowers and guests’ names) facing the large sundeck which can be accessed by opening the sliding doors. There are also two sun loungers, a complimentary minibar with soft drinks and lovely amenities such as herbal parcels for the bathtub and fast complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.

The Amala

Wellness & Spa Activities

With a strong wellness focus, The Amala focuses on ancient Asian medicine blended with Western holistic philosophies. The Spa offers a range of wellness programmes and treatments where organic products are being used whenever possible. The Jade Stone Body Massage, for example,  is an invigorating 90-minute full-body massage combining the healing powers of jade stone with a series of century-old Chinese techniques to stimulate circulation that helps release toxins from the body’s deep tissue. The treatment starts with a foot bath and a welcome detox juice followed by the massage which takes place in a couple’s spa room. The massage is fantastic and the therapist is using a body oil based on your preferences. The aroma of the relaxing oil is certainly adding the comfortably sleepy feeling it leaves you with. The treatment is concluded with a fresh ginger tea in the relaxation area. Other treatments on the menu include various facials, body scrubs, and rituals.

The Amala Wellness Studio is where both yoga and meditation classes are being held. The beautiful studio has large windows facing the garden and is open for both morning and afternoon mediations. The Sunset Pranam is a beautiful 30-minute singing bowl meditation held daily at 5.30 pm. It includes a simple body stretch followed by a savasana posture where the melody from the healing bowl brings total relaxation.

The Amala Restaurant

The Bamboo Restaurant

The Bamboo Restaurant is located in the middle of the hotel on a small island surrounded by water on both sides. The dining area is intimate with only a few tables and offers a delicious and healthy all-day dining menu mixing Asian and Western cuisine. The tuna tartare is superb and so is the organic baby chicken served with potatoes, sauteed vegetables and mushrooms.

The breakfast is served between 6 am – 11 am either in the Bamboo Restaurant or in the privacy of your vila. There’s a special daily breakfast menu featuring different specials for each day of the week in addition to the a la carte menu. The vegan pancakes served with banana and strawberries are delicious and so is the avocado bruschetta served with a quinoa salad.

Who is The Amala for?

The Amala Seminyak is perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway given the total privacy in the spa villas. Wellness enthusiasts will also enjoy a stay here with the healthy food offerings, the many spa and detox treatments and the overall healing energy of the hotel. The spa villas are also great for solo travellers since all meals can be ordered to the villa which also has its own pool. It’s worth mentioning that the hotel is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

The Amala is a fantastic hotel for a short or long stay. The staff is wonderful and is going out of their way to ensure guests have a memorable stay. It’s the attention to detail and the extra gestures such as the flower arrangements on the bed, the free minibar and the complimentary airport transfer that makes you feel welcome and certainly wanting to come back very soon again.

You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for You don't stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole for the check-in experience—you stay because 1901 wrote better architecture than most cities can build today. Ten years after Graham Greene walked these halls, and they haven't missed a beat. The Opera House steps, the wartime tunnels underfoot, the Angelina salon where cocktails taste like history—they're all part of a legacy that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s review from his recent stay at @sofitellegendmetropolehanoi for @luxnomade on why this Hanoi icon still sets the standard.
Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge Three hours from Hanoi. Seven hectares on the edge of Ha Long Bay. Two buildings designed like traditional fishing vessels. One rooftop dinner that pairs Kagoshima Wagyu with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The math checks out. What makes this property exceptional isn't the awards or the price points—it's the willingness to let simple things (poolside pizza, afternoon tea with a limestone backdrop, quiet mornings at the Club Lounge) carry as much weight as the five-course tasting menus. Sometimes luxury is knowing when not to try too hard. Read @janoahvankekem ´s full review of @intercontinental_halongbay for @luxnomade on the website.
