The Naman Retreat, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World is the first wellness retreat in Vietnam. With a strong wellness focus, the unique luxury resort has won four global awards of excellence including ‘Best Wellness Retreat in Vietnam’. And it’s not difficult to see why. Arriving at Naman Retreat immediately evokes a sense of serenity. The specular drive-away up to the main reception (the building is incredibly impressive in itself) boasts bamboo clad stone residences, lush green hanging gardens, and beautiful flowers, creating a sense of entering an oasis. The reception area is found in the astonishing wooden building which boasts high ceilings decorated with white stones and wooden features. Whilst enjoying a healthy welcome drink I soak up the relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere which immediately evokes a feeling of calmness. When checking in, guests are encouraged to leave the busy world behind and totally relax surrounded by beautiful nature. There is also a great emphasis on personalised service. All guests, are, for example, appointed a private assistant who is available for any questions and requests over Whatsapp. The service adds a nice personal touch and turns out to be very efficient.
Apart from the award-winning spa, villas, residences and hotel rooms, the retreat boasts several stunning communal areas. The large infinity pool overlooks the ocean and makes a spectacular centrepiece of the resort. Guests can make the most of the beach/pool area by enjoying a coffee or lunch at the Sitini Bar or enjoy their meal poolside. For those looking to burn off calories after the breakfast buffet (which is one of the most impressive buffets I’ve ever encountered), there’s a second pool on the other side of the resort which is perfect for morning and/or afternoon laps.
11 different room categories to suit every guest’s needs
The boutique luxury retreat offers eleven different room categories ranging from Babylon King (45sqm) to 3-bedroom villas (1000 sqm) to suit every guest’s needs. The two-storey 2-bedroom Pool Villa is spacious (47sqm) and is perfect for a family or group of friends. Each Pool Villa has a private plunge pool and a courtyard with comfortable sun loungers offering full privacy. The colour palette is neutral with calming and earthy shades throughout the room. The king-size bed is comfortable with luxury linen and extra pillows including a cylinder cushion for maximum comfort. The open-plan bathroom area boasts a deep-soak bathtub, a separate rain shower, a walk-in wardrobe, and a vanity sink. The amenities can be found in a washbag in one of the drawers. One of the highlights of the Pool Villa is the private outdoor pool but if you prefer an indoor soak the bathtub which is placed in front of a floor-to-ceiling glassdoor, offers a beautiful view overlooking the garden. Despite being close to other guests, the plant clad walls surrounding each Pool Villa provide total privacy which creates a residential feel. The large sofas, coffee machines, and comfortable linen robes make you feel like you are home-away-from-home. A nice touch are the complimenatry treats including dried fruit and lotus seeds placed on the table. Enjoy a cup of tea on your private sun lounger in the lush green courtyard after a massage at Pure Spa and allow yourself to completely unwind, reconnect and encourages self-discovery in the beautiful and peaceful setting.
Hay Hay Restaurant and B Lounge
There’s plenty to choose from when it comes to food. The beautiful Hay Hay Restaurant, famous for its traditional authentic Vietnamese dishes, is open all-day is located in the main building and offers a stunning view over the infinity pool and the ocean. The impressive decor is truly unique with large wooden pillars, lanterns and stone decorations. This is where the daily breakfast buffet is served from 6.30 am -10.30 am. Guests can choose traditional Vietnamese dishes as well as Western food, sweet and savoury pastries, waffles, pancakes, salads, cold cuts, and fruits. The coffee is excellent and the made-to-order omelettes suburb!
The dinner menu includes traditional Vietnamese dishes beautifully presented. As a starter, the Hue Lotus Royal Salad served with roasted free-range duck, herbs and sweet and sour fish sauce and the Da Nang Pancakes served with dipping sauce are both really tasty. For the main course, the traditional Vietnamese Caramel Clay Pot (mackerel cubes, pork belly, and chilli) is spicey and cooked to perfection. There’s a large selection of delicious local desserts and one of the more popular treats on the menu is the homemade coconut ice-cream served in a coconut (!) drizzled with coconut cream.
For guests who fancy European food, B Lounge located next to the infinity pool is a fun and chic fine-dining restaurant. Highlighting the best from European cuisine, some of the more popular dishes include the rib-eye steak and tuna tataki. For those with a sweet tooth, the white chocolate parfait served with mango sauce is divine.
The award-winning Pure Spa
Vietnam has a steep tradition in wellness and wellbeing. This has been embraced at Pure Spa. The impressive award-winning spa, spanning over 1000 sqm has 15 treatment rooms in total for holistic spa treatments catering to both body and mind. The open-walls and hanging green gardens create a feeling of being in nature which adds to the relaxing vibe. The spa also boasts separate steam rooms, saunas and hot and cold jacuzzis for men and women as well as couples’ treatment rooms.
