Capella Taipei: A New Jewel in the Heart of Taiwan’s Luxury Landscape

Luxury in Taiwan just reached new heights with the much-anticipated debut of Capella Taipei, the first property in Taiwan under the renowned Capella Hotels and Resorts brand. Opening its doors on April 1, 2025, this urban sanctuary promises to elevate the city’s hospitality scene, blending sophisticated design, bespoke experiences, and a deep connection to the vibrant culture of Taipei.

Located in the prestigious Dunhua North Road district, one of the most coveted neighborhoods in the city, Capella Taipei offers an enviable location that connects visitors to the heart of the city’s dynamic business district, artisanal shopping areas, and rich cultural heritage. The hotel itself is a masterstroke of design, showcasing the beauty of Taipei’s contemporary spirit while paying homage to its past.

A Hotel of Refined Elegance and Contemporary Charm

Capella Taipei features 86 rooms, including 8 luxurious suites and 78 thoughtfully designed guest rooms, some with private pool terraces offering a tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. For those seeking the ultimate indulgence, the signature Capella Suite awaits. Spanning a grand 228 square meters, this extraordinary suite offers panoramic views of the iconic Taipei 101, allowing guests to enjoy the vibrant cityscape from the comfort of their private haven.

The hotel is a true architectural gem, designed in collaboration with the Tokyo-based Mori Building Group. The interiors, curated by celebrated designer André Fu, embody a “modern mansion” concept, combining bespoke luxury with a deep respect for local culture. Guests are welcomed into light-filled spaces that connect the indoors with the lush, tree-lined corridor outside, evoking the feeling of strolling along a European promenade. It’s a refined atmosphere where every corner invites relaxation and personal reflection.

Culinary Delights: A Feast for the Senses

No luxury experience is complete without exceptional dining, and Capella Taipei delivers on this promise in spades. With five distinctive dining destinations, the hotel offers a culinary journey that spans continents and centuries.

Start your day at Atelier Plume, a French patisserie that seamlessly marries the artistry of French pastry with the island’s seasonal bounty. For a more intimate experience, head to Mizue, an omakase restaurant on the second floor that brings the flavors of Japan to life with meticulously crafted sushi and serene, ryokan-inspired design. For something more adventurous, Rong Ju takes you on a journey through Cantonese culinary traditions, reimagining classic dim sum and wok-fired dishes in an elegant, terracotta-tiled setting.

In the mood for something more relaxed? Ember 28 on the ground floor brings fire-cooking to the forefront, serving up 28-day dry-aged prime cuts cooked to perfection under the glow of Preciosa chandeliers. Meanwhile, Plume, the elegant lobby lounge, offers an afternoon tea experience steeped in local heritage, highlighted by a mural by French artist Elsa Jeandedieu that features the iconic Taiwan blue magpie.

Wellness: A Rejuvenating Escape

Capella Taipei isn’t just about indulging your taste buds and satisfying your cultural curiosity—it’s also about rejuvenating the body and mind. The hotel’s wellness sanctuary is designed with tranquility in mind, drawing inspiration from sacred architectural forms and the rhythms of nature. The spa experience at Capella is nothing short of transformative, inviting guests to embark on a journey of self-renewal and holistic well-being.

The Future of Luxury in Taipei

Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare Sometimes luxury shows up quietly, without fanfare or a grand lobby to announce its presence. That is exactly how Finca Victoria arrived in Sa Riera—a restored estate where the pine-covered hills and Mediterranean set the tone before you even step inside.

Opened in 2025 after careful renovation of a historic property, it captures something rare on the Costa Brava: the feeling of having discovered a corner that hasn't yet lost its soul. Just thirty-eight rooms, all adults over fourteen, spread across what feels more like a private summer house than a resort determined to impress from the first moment. The central cloister anchors everything, with warm stone arches, ceramics, and Catalan tuff flooring that gives you a sense of place without leaning too hard on nostalgia.

The food alone tells you this was done with intention. AlKostat del Mar, led by chef Jordi Vilà, serves seasonal Catalan cooking rooted in local produce and fire. A rice dish can become the reason you're traveling somewhere new. Breakfast stretches from eight until eleven with made-to-order hot options alongside a carefully edited buffet—eggs Benedict with salmon, avocado toast, regional specialties like black butifarra with beans—that makes rushing feel unnecessary.

But what lingers is the room itself. In our Terrace Suite, nearly sixty square metres overlooked both sea and the rolling hills of Begur. The bathroom held both bathtub and rainfall shower. An outdoor shower faced sideways toward the horizon. These details don't shout; they settle into your memory slowly.

Spa appointments run through the Victoria Wellness Spa with water circuits, saunas, jacuzzis, and sensory treatments—all requiring advance booking, which somehow makes the peace even sweeter when you arrive. Morning yoga happens inside one of the suites, sunlight filling the space as you ground yourself into the day rather than race through it.

There is a complimentary shuttle to Begur village until late evening, and the beach is literally a short walk away. Private boat trips can be arranged for up to six people. Paddleboards, loungers, anything on the water the hotel can help coordinate through external partners. Yet even with
