Literature lovers rejoice! Head to Pavillon des Lettres for this is Paris’ original literary boutique hotel.

Each of the 26 rooms and suites is dedicated to a different letter of the alphabet with a corresponding writers name. V is for Virginia Woolf, C is Charles Baudelaire, S for none other than Shakespeare and Z for Zola. Upon entering the light, airy lobby you are drawn to a collection of beautiful hardcover and coffee table books just waiting to be read and to inspire. 

Hotel Room

The Junior Suite was modern and calming. With floor to ceiling windows running along the entire length of the room, the abundance of natural light created a fresh, natural environment that felt far removed from being in a big, busy city. The bedroom moves straight into a large bathroom with glass doors and walls, creating a vision of even more space, with a flowing cadence and freedom to the rooms. The bathroom is large, boasting an enormous bathtub and shower with delightful ‘Codage’ products. 

The fabrics and interiors were elegant featuring velvets, textured rugs and generous curtains. The colour scheme was muted, with warm chocolate brown touches, matte almond walls and sable and teal finishings and upholstery. The overall effect was so peaceful and sophisticated that you almost won’t want to leave the room and explore Paris! 

There was a small outdoor terrace with chairs and a table adjoining the bedroom, the perfect place to sit and hear the life of Paris going on below you whilst bathing in the sunshine. 

Hotel Design/Overall

Le Pavillon des Lettres is cultivated and classic in its design. Throughout the lobby and honesty bar areas is a splendid profusion of natural light, creating the most perfect location to indulge in a cocktail or to enjoy a coffee whilst reading one of the many books on offer. 

Designed by Didier Benderli, the interiors of Pavillon des Lettres are clean, harmonious and modern. Benderli defines luxury as being “exceptional and unique” and the intimate space of Pavillon des Lettres enables the subtle play of Benderli’s work to really come to life, displaying the harmony between interior design, literature, painting and sculpture.

Restaurant/Breakfast

Breakfast is a tantalising display of all the delicious offerings of France, from traditional pastries, croissants, pains au chocolats to fresh fruit salad. A fine array of cheese and fresh French bread with real butter is there to tempt you along with ham, eggs and bacon. Tea and coffee are always available to be ordered. 

There is no chef onsite, so the in room dining and snack menu offers dishes prepared by chefs for the hotel in glass serving containers for freshness. 

The honesty bar provides a selection of wines, aperitifs, digestifs; any tipple you fancy is there. The honesty bar really transforms Pavillon des Lettres into becoming a living room of your own, a place where you can work, socialise, read or daydream right in the centre of Paris’ 8th arrondissement. 

Location

The 8th arrondissement is home to some of the biggest attractions of Paris. On your doorstep you have the historical Place de la Concorde, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, Parc Monceau and not to forget, what has been called the most beautiful avenue in the world…the monumental Avenue Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe. Within walking distance is the enormous Church of Madeleine where you can attend a classical music concert. 

You could get lost wandering around all of the boutiques, ateliers, and showrooms of luxury designers in this area of Paris, so if shopping is a must, then you will be spoilt for choice here. Even simply window shopping along these broad avenues filled with luxury designers is a spectacle and a feast for the eyes.

The WiFi is fast, the rooms are veritable havens from the busy Paris streets and the staff are all genuine, warm and cannot do enough to ensure you are comfortable during your stay.
