The Langham Gold Coast- a luxury escape for the entire family
This little expedition from a bitter Sydney winter to Australia’s newest luxury beachfront property had been on my travel to-do list for a few months, and it didn’t disappoint. I am delighted to report that for those seeking a blend of sophistication, coastal beauty, and an unforgettable escape, The Langham, Gold Coast (opened in June 2022), emerges as a haven of indulgence and delight.
It is a new chapter in the Langham Hospitality Group’s legacy, adding yet another jewel to its portfolio of exceptional destinations around the world. The Gold Coast destination perfectly encapsulates the brand’s vision of redefining luxury experiences, making it a cherished addition to the hospitality group’s illustrious repertoire.
With its stunning views, luxurious accommodations, and unmatched attention to detail, you can see why The Langham, Gold Coast, has quickly become an iconic beacon of luxury on the Australian coastline.
This grand 5-star establishment boasts 169 hotel rooms and 170 residences, nestled perfectly on the absolute beachfront, offering breathtaking vistas of the majestic blue Pacific Ocean and the scenic Gold Coast Hinterland.
Traditional Gold Coast sauntering is on offer as the hotel sits amongst the action. Bikes for hire sit out on the beach path, but at the heart of the experience lies the hotel’s commitment to luxury and opulence, evident in every detail of its grandeur facilities.
We write our name in the sand before we check in to the hotel and a highlight is finding it from the glimmering heights of our skyline ocean view room.
The views from these celebrity fit rooms can not be described, they need to be felt. Feeling we were floating at sea rather than in a hotel room, the tranquil experience can be felt from every corner.
The entire room has been stylishly crafted and is a haven of luxury and absolute perfection. Blissful beds, rain showers and colossal baths and the latest creature comforts create the most dreamy home away from home. Impossible to fault, the space is inspiring and I could have stayed forever. The in-house private dining is a treat to be experienced, with the full dining experience to enjoy an intimate family dinner with all the service and trimmings from the comfort of your own room.
If venturing out is more your vibe, for the ultimate seafood culinary experience, we recommend the stand-alone experience Akoya, Chef Matthew Woolford has created a celebration of fresh, locally-sourced produce and coastal delights (Read Lux Nomade’s Akoya review here). Casual classic dining is also an option throughout the hotel.
I was lucky enough to experience first hand on a relaxed afternoon with the kids a very special Afternoon Tea. I had heard whispers of the experience, although nothing could have prepared me for the decadence.
The tradition of afternoon tea at The Langham is renowned, dating back to its origins at The Langham London in 1865. New Chef Johann had honed his culinary knowledge under the tutelage of some of the world’s finest Michelin-starred French restaurants, and it shows. His expertise adds a touch of sophistication and artistry and we were thrilled to discover the four signature French savoury and sweet desserts on the menu, each with a unique twist of Australian ingredients. The Tarte Tatin was divine, this classic French dessert had received a new interpretation, featuring the sweetness of Queensland pineapples nestled in a buttery pastry shell. The fusion of French finesse with Australian flavors continued throughout and the Croque Madame offered a sophisticated twist on the classic French sandwich. Layers of rich and nutty Heidi Gruyere cheese were combined with creamy bechamel sauce, while a perfectly cooked, sunny-side-up quail egg cascaded over lightly toasted bread.
The attention to detail and the fusion of flavours showcased his culinary brilliance and passion for his art. A glass or two of Tattinger completed the experience for me and I could have spent a long time in the impressive lobby bar had the kids not wanted to get back to the pool!
Kids and adults alike are immediately captivated by the sight of the beautiful lagoon pool. It is undoubtedly a space to boast about that can easily transport you to a world of relaxation. The sun-drenched ambience of the pool area doesn’t take long to feel you have been whisked away on an overseas holiday, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
With cocktails and delicious food on hand, with complimentary afternoon fruit cups delivered, to hot holiday makers it really is an oasis of calm and luxury, to truly unwind and escape from the outside world.
Indoors and away from the sun, the Chuan Spa is a hidden gem, boasting a jewel-shaped indoor pool that is an experience in itself. A state-of-the-art fitness studio and gym catered to those seeking to maintain their active lifestyle during their stay also resides on this level. A well-appointed kids’ play area is also on offer.
The Langham, Gold Coast, is basking in the glory of five top industry accolades received in the recent highly competitive hotel and accommodation industry awards. The property’s excellence was honoured at the Queensland Hotel Australia (QHA) Awards for Excellence 2023 and the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023.
The awards received are a reflection of the team’s unwavering passion for creating unforgettable moments for every guest, elevating the Langham experience to an unparalleled level.
