Bookings Now Open for The Tasman, Arriving December 2021
The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart today announces the official opening of bookings as the hotel prepares to invite its first guests to embark on an enriching journey of discovery with the arrival of Tasmania’s new luxury hotel.
Opening its doors in December 2021, The Tasman is set to bring the unique local character of Hobart to life through authentic experiences that connect its pioneering past with an unexpected contemporary culture, surrounded by Tasmania’s captivating scenery.
It will be the first Australian Luxury Collection Hotel, a global network of nearly 120 unique hotels and resorts by Marriott International Inc., each an authentic expression of location inspired by the experiences that make every destination distinctive.
The heritage development connects Salamanca Place with an elegant fronting on Murray Street in Hobart’s Parliament Square, a new centre for Hobart that is perfectly situated in the most enthralling part of the city, just steps from the famous Salamanca Markets, St David’s Park and the vibrant waterfront of Sullivan’s Cove.
A distinct architectural experience blends the site’s historical legacy with a striking modern vision at The Tasman. Guests will have a rare opportunity to experience three eras of design within the hotel; from walking the history filled hallways of the original 1840s heritage building, admiring the understated luxury of the 1940s Art Deco building, or taking in the spectacular views of the Hobart waterfront from the new glass ensconced Pavilion building.
Offering 152 unique rooms and some of Hobart’s most spectacular suites, each accommodation offering within the hotel highlights a distinct character and experience so that no stay is ever the same. Original artworks from local artists, warming fireplaces and island baths are some of the highlight features within.
The Tasman will host a signature restaurant – Peppina which is a celebration of old-world hospitality and produce-focused cooking led by renowned Tasmanian chef, Massimo Mele who gives Italian inspired cuisine a local Tasmanian twist.
“We are overjoyed to be opening bookings for The Tasman and cannot wait to unveil a truly unique hotel that has been years in the making.” Said Stephen Morahan, General Manager at The Tasman.
