1. Crystalbrook Kingsley
Crystalbrook Kingsley, Newcastle opened on 9 June 2021. Centrally located in the Cultural Precinct opposite Civic Park, Crystalbrook Kingsley is a transformation of Newcastle’s iconic ‘Roundhouse’ building, which started life in the 1970s as the City Administration Centre. Serving a new level of sustainable luxury to Australia’s seventh largest city, and the gateway to the Hunter Valley, Crystalbrook Kingsley features 130 contemporary rooms and suites, with urban, park and harbour views. 2. Aman New York
Aman New York signifies renewal on many levels and will breathe new life into Manhattan’s iconic Crown Building.
With the importance of focusing on personal wellbeing never more apparent, Aman New York will bring to life the fullest expression of the Aman Urban Wellness concept. Extending over three-storeys, the Aman Spa will be the brand’s new flagship Wellness Centre in the western hemisphere – a serene haven for hotel guests, residence owners and Aman Club members.
Encompassing three rooms dedicated to consultation, examination and therapy, the Wellness Centre will be home to seven spa treatment suites and two unique Banya and Hammam Spa Houses – ideal for half and full-day experiences. 8. Kingsland Locke, London
Forward-thinking home-meets-hotel brand Locke has launched its fourth London property, Kingsland Locke, in the heart of Dalston. Located in one of London’s most eclectic neighbourhoods, Kingsland Locke is housing 124 contemporary studio apartments, as well as complimentary co-working space, on-site micro-brewery and gin distillery, all-day restaurant, workout studio and coffee shop. The lower ground floor of the hotel boasts a large, naturally-lit atrium space providing a relaxing atmosphere by day, which will transition into a lively bar area come nightfall.
Continuing Locke’s refreshing design approach, the interiors of Kingsland Locke have been conceived by East London-based studio Red Deer, who has taken inspiration from the vibrant colours and scenes of the surrounding Dalston neighbourhood. Rooms have been designed with a more muted palette, using raw textures and subtle tones to encourage rest and relaxation. Synonymous with the wider Locke brand, all studios will feature fully-equipped kitchens complete with high spec appliances, as well as custom-made green velvet sofas and living space.

9. Pan Pacific, London
Pan Pacific Hotels Group, has planted its first flag in Europe with Pan Pacific London. Offering the signature Pan Pacific gracious hospitality, with a touch of Asian resourcefulness, Pan Pacific London is scheduled to open in September 2021 just across from Liverpool Street Station, the historic and ever-evolving business district with little in the way of luxury hotels. 10. The Londoner, London
Edwardian Hotels’ The Londoner is London’s newest hotel, is due to open in 2021 in London’s Leicester Square. Launching as the world’s first Super Boutique hotel and in excess of £300m investment, the property will showcase a contemporary aesthetic crafted by Yabu Pushelberg across 16 stories including subterranean levels, making it one of the deepest hotels in the world, with 350 guest rooms and suites; two private screening rooms; a mix eof six concept eateries, bars, a tavern and a variety of meeting spaces and a results-driven gym and spa.
As a brand-new build in the heart of London, The Londoner will employ pioneering methods of sustainable luxury and secured a £175 million Green Loan from HSBC UK, a first for the hospitality sector. The funding will be used to ensure the new hotel doesn’t just meet but exceeds the BREEAM Excellent category in building environmental and sustainable performance.
11. WunderLocke, South-West Munich
Continuing its European expansion, home-meets-hotel brand Locke has opened WunderLocke in South-West Munich. WunderLocke aims to disrupt the Bavarian capital with a hospitality concept unlike any other in the city, and the first Locke of its kind. The new opening will feature 360 stylish studio apartments, co-working area, meeting and event spaces, workout studio and outdoor heated swimming pool; as well as four food and drink outlets including an urban farm that will supply a farm-to-table concept, and rooftop cocktail bar with panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps.
WunderLocke is a destination for locals, holidaymakers, and business travellers alike, providing a new creative hub in South-West Munich for the city’s burgeoning undercurrent of artists, creatives and tech entrepreneurs. WunderLocke has been designed by acclaimed studio Holloway Li, which completed Locke’s latest London property, Bermonds Locke, earlier this year. The property’s design-led apartments are peaceful and spacious, and all feature kitchens and seating areas – a hallmark of Locke design. Previously a beachfront Balearic structure from the 1980s, W Ibiza Hotel sits off the beaten track and on the palm-fringed beachfront of Santa Eulalia – Ibiza’s largest resort. Baranowitz + Kronenberg (B+K) have transformed W Ibiza into an incredible social hub that connects with guests, sets the scene, and sparks imagination, while incorporating the bold and playful themes of W Hotels. 13. Zentis Osaka
Zentis Osaka is a new hotel which is the creation of renowned interior specialist Tara Bernerd and marks the first property of a new hotel group under the Palace Hotel Group umbrella.

14. The Hari Hong Kong
Building on the success of The Hari London, where the hotel brand first originated, Tara Bernerd & Partners is delighted to once again collaborate on the design for The Hari Hong Kong. Situated in the vibrant, up and coming area of Wan Chai, the hotel is set to be the new destination hotel for “those in the know”. Taking its cue from its owner, Dr. Aron Harilela, Chairman and CEO of Harilela Hotels, The Hari Hong Kong is a handsome hotel brand which seeks to inject modern luxury and social dynamism into the district.
As with all Tara Bernerd & Partners designs, locale is everything. Bridging the commercial pulse of Causeway Bay and the creative design scene of Wan Chai, the Practice has sought to contrast the commercial heritage of the neighbourhood with a contemporary forward-looking attitude. A polished palate is offset by mid-century furniture and striking artwork aimed at capturing the essence of entering into the chicest of Hong Kong homes.
15. Desa Potato Head, Bali
Following the successful 2020 opening of Potato Head Studios – Desa Potato Head’s 168 guest room hotel – the remainder of the complex will launch next year. This final element of Potato Head’s decade-spanning project has been uniquely designed in partnership with architect David Gianotten at OMA, the Dutch practice founded by Rem Koolhaas.
Desa Potato Head is the home to a farm-to-table restaurant, numerous bars, a multifunctional gallery, an environmentally driven kids club, several rooftop activation areas, an amphitheatre, a beachfront pool with daybeds, a music recording studio, a permanent home for dance music’s Wild Life Archive, and next door, a high-fidelity, subterranean discotheque designed in partnership with DJ Harvey. Conceived as a multidimensional experience which transcends hospitality, it’s a place where music, art, design, food, wellness and sustainability will collide, offering a new type of holistic experience for both the local community and guests alike.
The Desa Potato Head complex features furniture and amenities made from recycled plastics and planet-friendly materials conceptualised by celebrated British designers Max Lamb and Faye Toogood, whose work is brought to life by Balinese artisans using indigenous materials and techniques as well as Potato Head’s own Sustainism Lab, an R&D team dedicated to finding circular solutions.
