Citadines Connect Sydney Airport: a celebration of the glamorous bygone era of air travel.
Citadines Connect Sydney Airport has revolutionised airport hotels. With its stylish interior decor, the spacious 150 rooms, stunning rooftop restaurant and bar, the convenient 24-hour Grab n’ Go shop and a rooftop cinema, Citadines is making a stop-over so enjoyable you end up not wanting to check out.
The Citadines Connect’s Location
Located only a 10-minute drive from the Sydney Airport, the hotel can easily be accessed by the Citadine’s shuttle bus service which runs from both the International and Domestic Terminal. In addition to being close to the airport, the hotel is also surrounded by the business parks of Alexandria, Botany, Mascot and Waterloo, and The Lakes and The Australian golf clubs. The city’s CBD is a short 15-minute drive away whilst the Mascot Train Station is about a 12-min walk from the hotel.
The Guest Rooms
The check-in to all 150 guest rooms starts at the top at the Penthouse Reception which boasts a stunning seating area with pastel coloured plush sofas and armchairs overlooking the airport runway. There are four room types including Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class, and First Class Rooms which all feature deluxe bedding, a 55-inch TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a rainfall shower. The First Class Room is extra spacious, 40 sqm to be exact, and has a separate sitting area with a sofa and armchairs as well as a large bathtub. The interior decor is modern and stylish with feminine touches such as the chic velvet sofa, the Kevin Murphy amenities, the azure blue tiles in the bathroom and the large bathtub. Every detail has been thought of in the room and the modern traveller will be pleased to find international power sockets, Netflix and block-out curtains ensuring a good night’s sleep. A nice touch is the complimentary (and thoughtful) box of treats including chocolates, crisps, mineral water, and sweets which is just what you need after a long flight.
The Bar, Restaurant & Grab n’ Go
Citadine nails both flexibility and personalisation when it comes to the service, food and drink offerings. Catering to travellers who might arrive at all hours, there is, in addition to the bar and restaurant, a 24-hour Grab n’ Go shop. Here guests can pick up hot and cold dishes, snacks, wine, ice-creams, and salads. For me, this is the first hotel I’ve ever stayed at who is offering this fantastic service and it just makes the entire experience so enjoyable. Flying in late? Grab a bottle of wine, a locally-sourced meal, and a cheeky Ben & Jerry’s ice cream before heading up to your room or make your way to the retro-cool bar and modern chic restaurant if you fancy a late dinner and tipple. The bar offers a spectacular view of the airport runway in addition to fantastic coffees, cocktails, local Australian wines, and craft beers served by the incredibly friendly staff making you feel very well looked after. The adjoining restaurant, which is also where the daily breakfast is served, offers the same stunning view and serves up a tasty casual bar menu including weekly specials. The cheeseburger with hot chips is great and so is the vegetarian pizza which goes well with a glass of First Creek ‘Havest’ Merlot from Hunter Valley or an American Pale Ale.
For breakfast guests can choose from a buffet and an a la carte menu, there’s also, of course, the option to pick something from the Grab n’ Go shop such as fresh croissants, toasts, fruits, and yogurts to enjoy back in the room with a take-away cofffee.
