Put your face on lovers, we’re going to… a makeup museum in New York City.
Beauty queens and kings will find blush-minded individuals in the city that never sleeps when it opens the world’s first museum completely dedicated to makeup.
Appropriately titled ‘The Makeup Museum’, it’ll welcome palette-curious guests in 2020 with cosmetic-related items, artifacts and knowledge dating back some 10,000 years.
Carefully draw on your Cleopatra eyeliner, because some pieces trace right back to the Ancient Egyptians.
Described as a “critical institution” by Executive Director and Co-Founder Doreen Bloch, the Museum will feature pieces that showcase the industry’s cultural impact.
It’ll also have products used on icons such as Marilyn Monroe (girl, yes!), Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Arden and more.
The Meatpacking District-based space will also include travelling exhibitions such as ‘Pink Jungle: 1950s Makeup in America’, it’ll have exclusive masterclasses, and there’ll be a ‘create your own lipstick shade’ area.
“Our goal is to be able to house many exhibitions and immerse people in different time periods, and give people a really deep understanding in a very fun way,” added fellow Co-Founder Rachel Goodwin.
