Paramount House Hotel, with its copper-clas roof and 29 rooms, is located in the former headquarters of Paramount Picture Studios hence the name where style and history are celebrated in the restored 1930s brick warehouse.

Paramount House Hotel occupies a 1930s brick warehouse and 1940s office building; formerly the headquarters of Paramount Pictures Studio right in the heart of Surry Hills only a 20-minute drive from Sydney Airport. The Museum train station and Hyde Park are only a 5-minute walk from the hotel which is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shops. Not only does the hotel benefit from being located in Surry Hill’s vibrant neigbourhood, the chic boutique hotel also shares the Paramount building with the Golden Age Cinema and Bar, Paramount Coffee Project, Paramount Recreation Centre and a funky co-working office space which adds to the vibrant vibe.
The Rooms
The check-in at the atrium-style lobby includes an unusual and unique welcome drink that is poured from brass taps at the reception. Guests can choose from a sour ale by the Marrickville-based brewer and blender, Wildflower, or a juniper berry, rosehip and hibiscus flower tea from Ovvio Organics.
The 29 guest rooms, designed by Melbourne-based Breathe Architecture, boast restored ceilings, old brick walls, timber floors, and terrazzo-tiled bathrooms. The five different room categories range from the ‘Nook’ to the ‘Mack Daddy’ and are all uniquely designed. The ‘Mack Daddy’ room feels very residential with a large bedroom, a separate sitting room and a private balcony with plants and outdoor seating. The bathroom is beautifully designed with a wooden bathtub, Aesop amenities, a shower curtain in linen and copper taps. The bedroom has a king-sized bed with luxury linen and a wool blanket, a forest green carpet and wood logs serving as bedside tables adding to the uniqueness of the hotel. The sitting room has wooden flooring, a large TV, a sofa, and a stylish rug. There is no coffee machine in the room however complimentary instant coffee and tea bags are available. In addition, there’s a mini-bar available as well as snacks for an additional charge. The room doesn’t have slippers, hairdryer, and some of the usual hotel amenities, however, the stylish design and spacious room makes up for it and provides a pleasant and comfortable stay. There are no international power sockets, however business travellers can borrow power converters from the reception area. Breakfast is not included but can be purchased at the restaurant on the ground floor or be delivered to the room. The coffee is apparently known to be one of the city’s best.
