The Colony Hotel Seminyak’s location
You can’t beat The Colony Hotel’s location. Situated right in the heart of Seminyak, the restaurant benefits from an array of award-winning restaurants, boutiques, and trendy cafes right on its doorstep. The beach is only 110 meters away and restaurants such as Sarong, Flat Stanley, Motel Mexicola (right around the corner), Da Maria and Mama San within walking distance.
The Colony Club
The Colony Club opened in 2011 and has been a popular destination for discerning travellers ever since. Earlier this year in January (2019) to hotel expanded by acquiring a separate building next door which was turned into The Colony Club.
Both buildings have modern minimalistic decor with inspiration from the Dutch Colonial era and decorated by the owners. The lobby area has leather sofas and armchairs with oriental mats, banana leaves, white crisp walls and bookshelves filled with books and various Indonesian and Colonial-inspired artefacts. The Colony Club building follows the same style. The lounge area next to the private lap pool is beautifully decorated with artwork, antiques, books, and board games. This is where the daily complimentary Sunset Cocktails are served to Club guests between 5 pm – 6 pm including Australian wines and beers with canapes.
Throughout the Club, there are several pictures and photographs of vintage KLM (Dutch Royal Airlines) posters, postcards and maps of Indonesia and Jakarta telling a story of The Netherland’s old colonial days.
The rooms
The Club has four room categories ranging from Club Grand Suite to Club Deluxe. Exclusively for the Clubrooms, they all have their own private balcony. The balconies with their outdoor seating are spacious and have ceiling to floor windows that can be opened or closed depending on the time of the day.
The Club Premier room ranges in size from 41 -55 sq meters and is decorated in an elegant and timeless style. The large king-size bed is comfortable and the marble-clad bedside tables are beautiful. The large 60-inch smart TV is placed in a white bookshelf which also has several artefacts on display. The spacious marble bathroom has a rain shower, double sinks and a beautiful oriental rug to keep the oriental theme. There’s a Nespresso machine, mini-bar, fresh fruit and water available.
The Facilities
The main hotel 16- meter pool is surrounded by a lush tropical garden creating a sense of an oasis. This is the perfect spot to lounge and relax. The Colony Club is offering exclusive pool and lounge facilities for more privacy. There’s also butler service available and a nice touch is the water bottle and ice lollies (!) handed out at the pool area.
The hotel gym has been allocated the prime spot right in the middle of the hotel area. It features modern equipment and machines as well as free weights and a personal fitness trainer can be arranged upon request.
The Restaurants
The Lobby restaurant is located behind the lobby and is light and tastefully decorated. This is where the daily breakfast is served. Guests can choose from an a la carte menu of eggs or Asian dishes such as Nasi and Mee Goreng. There’s also a small buffet including fresh fruit, toast, pastries, cold cuts, and salads. The casual dining area is also open for lunch and has well-priced dishes such as burgers, sandwiches, and noodles. The Mee Goreng is delicious and served with a fried egg and vegetables. There’s also a Poolside Café where guests can sit back, relax and their lunch, snack or drinks in a relaxed setting by the pool and tropical garden.
Who is The Colony Hotel Seminyak for?
This is a stylish and chic boutique hotel for anyone who is looking for luxury accommodation whilst making the most of everything Seminyak has to offer. The hotel is perfect for couples, solo travellers or families (although the hotel is not suitable for children under 16 years of age) and is offering a tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle. The Colony Club is especially nice with its private pool and a place you wish you could stay at for a few more days.
