Capella Singapore has been shining bright on Santosa Island for ten years.
Capella Singapore on Sentosa Island is a luxurious idyllic retreat for the discerning traveller. ‘Capella’ which stands for ‘the brightest star in the constellation Auriga‘ turns out to be a suitable name. The 5-star hotel has been shining brightly over Singapore’s Sentosa Island for the past 10 years, offering a tropical paradise escape, a cultural experience, and excellent service. A member of the Global Hotel Alliance, Capella Singapore was recognised as ‘Top Hotel in Singapore’ after receiving Conde Nast traveller’s 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards and is one of the most sought-after wedding destinations in Asia.
Capella Singapore’s Location
Capella Singapore is nestled in 30 acres of lush rainforest on Sentosa Island offering an idyllic respite from the city chaos with its stunning tropical backdrop. Located 30 minutes from the airport, Capella is only a ten-minute drive from the heart of one of Asia’s most dynamic cities providing easy access to Singapore’s financial and shopping districts.
A Hotel With a Rich History
The resort’s beautiful main building situated on a beautiful knoll is a rare architectural masterpiece representing Singapore’s rich colonial heritage. The four classic colonial buildings were initially built back in the 1880s to accommodate the British officers of the Royal Artillery and their families. In 2009, all buildings were restored and together with contemporary buildings and villas, Capella Singapore opened its doors. Spread over the lush rainforest, Capella’s impressive tropical gardens are home to more than 5,000 trees as well as more than 415,000 smaller plants. Most impressive is perhaps the large heritage trees including the Angsana Tree, Johor Fig and Common Pulai.
The Living Room
Located on the first floor in the main building above the reception area, guests will find The Living Room. A stunning room, with large windows overlooking the gardens, the beautiful space was initially used for entertainment by the British officers and the Royal Artillery and their families. The plush sofas, bookshelves, old black and white photographs hanging on the walls and dark wooden floorboards evoke a sense history and elegance (if only walls could talk). Apart from tea, coffee, and soft drinks, The Living Room is serving complimentary Afternoon Tea daily between 3 pm – 5 pm. Enjoy the sandwiches, cakes, and pastries which are a mix of Western and Asian flavours together with the large selection of teas whilst soaking in the beautiful garden view.
Singapore’s Most Spacious Villas
At Capella Singapore, size does matter. In fact, the luxury resort offers the most spacious hotel accommodations in Singapore. Apart from the 57 Premier guestrooms, there are 15 suites, 38 villas featuring private outdoor showers and bathtubs and two heritage Colonial Manors. The spacious One-Bedroom Garden Villas (133 sqm) offers total privacy. Although located next to one another there’s enough space to create a feeling of being totally undisturbed whilst enjoying the private outdoor plunge pool, large sun loungers, outdoor bathtub, and rain shower. Inside, the villas are tastefully decorated in a natural colour palette. The sitting room has a large day-bed, a large LCD TV, mini-bar and an office area. The bedroom is spacious with a large king-size bed with Pratesi linens and a 46-inch flat-screen LCD TV as well as centralised remote control system for blinds, lights, and room temperature. The best part of the villa is the majestic bathroom. The high ceilings, walk-in wardrobe, separate rain shower room, two sinks (his and hers) creates a feeling of space and luxury which is completed with amenities are from Australian brand Aesop. A nice bonus is the Bose surround system, the Nespresso machine, and the complimentary well-stocked mini-bar and fast Wi-Fi throughout the property.
The daily breakfast is served at The Knolls Restaurant between 7 am – 11 am. The comprehensive buffet includes a fresh juice station, a noodle and sushi bar, fresh bread and pastries, fruits and cold cuts. There’s also an a la carte menu where guests can choose from delicious dishes such as Belgium Waffles, Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast. The breakfast can be enjoyed inside the aircon or in the alfresco area pool-side which has a nice view of the hotel’s three cascading swimming pools and overlooks the South China Sea. Not a bad way to start the day.

Auriga Spa
Auriga Spa is a contemporary and luxurious spa spanning over 12,000 square feet with nine treatment rooms. The spa philosophy is centered around the moon cycle and all signature treatments use natural products that reflect the varying energies of the lunar cycle. The moon massage combining Swedish and Balinese massage mixed with stretching is wonderful for relaxation and for any sore muscles from a long-haul flight. Prior to the treatment guests can fill out a form indicating which areas of the body they would like the therapist to avoid/pay more attention to for the ultimate personalised experience. After the 90-min massage, the lounge room is the ideal place to relax and let the benefits of the massage work its magic whilst filling up on plenty of water and herbal tea. The vitality pool and the herbal steam room can be used either prior or after treatments. There’s also an ice fountain and hot and cold experience showers for the ultimate spa experience.
