Mykonos, the Cycladic Greek island is blessed with beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters. Mykonos is also one of Europe’s most popular summer destinations, and the reason is obviously its fine golden sand beaches. Platys Gialos
Platis Gialos is one of the most popular beaches of the island, filling with thousands of people during summer time attracted by the golden sand and the wonderful turquoise crystalline waters. The nice, long beach, offering sun beds and umbrellas, water sports facilities and a great selection of restaurants and bars. You can enjoy a drink on the beach on loungers with seats and table. It is reachable by local bus leaving every half an hour from Mykonos Town. From Platis Gialos, regular taxi-boats go to the beaches of the southern coast which are Paranga, Agrari, Elia, Paradise, and Super Paradise.

Psarou beach is 5 km from the town of Mykonos. It is one of the most popular and famous beaches on the island, with pure and clean white sand and crystal clear waters, ideal for sunbathing and relaxing and also for watersports. Jet skiing, motor boating, fishing, and surfing are also popular on Psarou.
Agios Stefanos
Agios Stefanos Beach is a sandy beach next to the new harbor, Tourlos, of Mykonos. This beach is probably a solution for those who do not have their own means of transport and do not like moving around much. Agios Stefanos beach is surrounded by tavernas and hotels strictly catering to tourists. You will find sunbeds, umbrellas, tavernas for fresh fish and cooked dishes, as well as a bar-taverna.

Ftelia
Ftelia beach is a very tranquil beach spot, known also as windsurfers paradise given it’s north-facing location. Located 7 kilometers from Mykonos Town and you can get to Ftelia beach only by car, motorbike or taxi. Since this beach faces the north, it is affected much by the strong summer northern winds, making it ideal for windsurfing, but not for swimming or sunbathing. Ftelia is an isolated, very tranquil and chilled out beach and even during July and August is not very crowded. There are two great restaurants; Ftelia Beach Club and Alemagou Beach Bar.

Kalafatis
Kalafatis Beach is one of the most authentic and uncrowded beaches on the Mykonos island. Visiting Kalafatis it’s almost like going to another island. This is where you can get ‘away from it all’ and find absolute tranquility. Located 12 kilometers from Mykonos Town, Kalafatis beach can be reached by catching a public bus from Chora. Visitors can also reach the beach by car or motorbike however there are no water taxis here. Kalafatis is a large, beautiful, less developed, sandy beach and very popular among windsurfers who enjoy a good offshore breeze. For those looking for a sporty day, there’s a variety of water sports available including jet ski, water ski, wakeboarding and tube rides. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent and there are also big trees where you can find some shade.
Agios Sostis
Looking for another north-facing beach? Agios Sostis beach is one of the most remote beaches in the north of Mykonos. Located 8 kilometers from Mykonos Town, Agios Sostis beach is accessed by car, motorbike or taxi however there’s no public transportation here. Uncultivated, pure and wild but also quite busy during the high season, it’s mostly quiet, especially compared to some of the other beaches on the island. For those looking for a wild beach, this is is the one as there are no sunbeds or umbrellas here, you have all the beach for yourselves. Popular among nudists you can drop your swimmers going all-natural. The beach hosts the world famous Kiki’s tavern.
Agios Ioannis
Located 4 kilometeres from Mykonos Town, Agios Ioannis beach is considered one of the most beautiful on Mykonos. The beach is easily accessed with a regular bus transfer from Mykonos Town every hour. Agios Ioannis Beach consists of soft sand and it is easy to go into the sea. The beach is also suitable for families with small children.The beach is partly with sunbeds and umbrellas, and partly without, so you can choose. Furthermore is not completely spared from the northern wind, on days when it blows heavily, but on most of the days, it is fairly calm here.
Paraga
Paraga Beach actually consists of two sandy beaches separated by a headland and forming a large beach with fine sand. It is one of the beaches originally made famous by the hippie generation back on 70s. Located 6 kilometers from Mykonos Town visitors can get to Paraga beach by catching a regular bus from Chora or by car or motorbike and as well as by water taxi. Nudist will be pleased to know it’s common practice for beach visitors to get out of there swimming costumes here.
